Physically, emotionally exhausted

Your cry of exhaustion has been heard, and it is right to bring it to the Father who sees and cares for you. The Lord knows the weight of a body that is tired and a heart that is weary, and He invites all who labor and are heavy laden to come to Christ for rest.

Scripture reminds us that the God who keeps His people neither slumbers nor sleeps, so that when you lie down, you are not alone or unguarded. His presence watches over you through the night. True peace is not only the absence of outward trouble, but the quieting of the soul within, when the heart is at rest in Him. That is the peace He gives, a peace that can make even our sleep calm and orderly, and our waking more collected and steady.

I join you in prayer before the Lord:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, look upon this weary one with compassion. Surround them with Your presence and fill their heart with Your peace that passes understanding. Quiet anxious thoughts and grant tonight a deep and restorative sleep. Renew their body and restore their soul, and give them strength sufficient for tomorrow. Teach them to cast every care upon You, to guard the heart in watchfulness and sobriety, and to walk in quiet trust and holiness before You. Let them rise refreshed, upheld by Your mercy and made perfect to do Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.

May the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, make you complete in every good work to do His will, and keep you in His love. Lean upon Him today, receive the rest He provides, and take tomorrow one step at a time in His strength.

Your honest prayer about feeling physically and emotionally exhausted is heard, and God understands that place of having no strength left in yourself.

Scripture speaks directly to this kind of weariness. It says that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind remains fixed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus told His disciples that He leaves His peace with them and gives His own peace to them, not as the world gives. The apostle Peter describes it as a peace that goes beyond human understanding, the kind the world cannot explain. That peace becomes real when our thoughts are turned toward the Lord and we choose to trust Him rather than rehearsing our worries.

In order to know that peace of God in daily life, we first need peace with God, and that peace has been made possible only through the blood of Jesus Christ. When our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled to God through Him, the inner war is quieted and His peace can then fill our hearts.

The Bible also says to trust in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. When we have no strength left, He becomes our strength. One psalm declares that the Lord is the strength of His people and that He will give strength to His people and bless them with peace. Another reminds us that the Lord will ordain peace for us, because He has done our works for us. God wants you to live in that peace and to know His strength, not your own.

There is also a close connection between the health of the body and the health of the soul. Scripture notes that a joyful heart does good like medicine, and that when the soul prospers the whole person is helped. Your physical exhaustion and emotional exhaustion are not separate to God. He cares for both.

I pray for you now that the Lord will surround you with His presence, that you will sense Him as near and as your protector, the One who watches over you while you sleep. I ask Him to quiet your mind as you keep your thoughts stayed on Him, to grant you deep and restorative sleep, and to renew you with His everlasting strength for tomorrow. May He fill you with that perfect peace that comes from trusting Him and from knowing He is in control. In Jesus name, Amen.
