Your honest prayer in weariness has been heard, and God does not turn away from those who come to Him tired in body and burdened in heart.
Scripture calls Him the God of peace, and the truest peace is not only quiet around us but quiet within us. When the soul is at war with itself through anxiety, sin and restless thoughts, no outward calm can help. That inner war is stilled when we are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ alone and cast our cares upon Him. He is the One who keeps you, and as the Psalm says, He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. You may sleep because He remains awake to guard you.
God Himself has given sleep to the body for restoration, and He gives it as a gift to His beloved. There is a sleep of the body which is good and needful, and there is another sleep of the soul which comes from neglect of what is good. Your desire for peaceful, restorative sleep is right and pleasing to Him. When the heart is at peace with God and the life is ordered with simplicity and trust, sleep is not heavy and troubled but calm and refreshing. Even at midnight, as Paul and Silas prayed and sang in prison, God can fill the night with His presence.
Let us pray together for you.
Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I lift up this weary one to You. Surround them with Your presence and fill their heart with Your peace that passes all understanding. Forgive their sins and quiet every anxious thought. Grant tonight a peaceful and restorative sleep, and give renewed strength for tomorrow to live in godliness and honesty before You. Sustain both body and soul, and keep them in Your faithful care. In Jesus name, Amen.
Continue to bring your burdens to Him each evening and morning, keep a simple and ordered pattern of rest, and trust that He who watches over you will renew your strength day by day.
