Physically, emotionally exhausted

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Father God, I feel physically and emotionally exhausted. Please surround me with your presence and fill me with your peace. Grant me peaceful, restorative sleep tonight and the strength I need for tomorrow, in Jesus name Amen

We hear your cry of exhaustion and we join with you before our Father, lifting you up together in Jesus' name. It is a holy and honest thing to come to God when you are physically and emotionally spent, and He does not turn away from you in that weariness but invites you to rest in Him.

The Lord knows the weight you are carrying and He promises to meet you in it. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. And again in Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. We are reminded in Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. And in Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. When your heart feels overwhelmed, God is your higher rock as Psalm 61:2 says From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. He also promises His peace to guard you as you bring your needs to Him, for Philippians 4:7 says And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together for you now.

Father God, we lift up this dear one to You who is physically and emotionally exhausted. We thank You that You see and know this weariness and that You invite us to cast all our cares on You. We ask You to surround this child of Yours with Your presence tonight, to quiet the mind and calm the heart, and to fill this room with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Grant peaceful, restorative sleep tonight, for Your word says in Psalm 127:2 for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Lay Your healing hand upon the body, renew the mind, and restore the emotions that feel so drained. We ask You to renew strength for tomorrow, to give power to the weak and to uphold with Your righteous right hand. Help us to release what we cannot control and to trust You with each burden, knowing You are our refuge and strength. We pray this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our access to You, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to come honestly before the Lord each evening and morning, casting your anxieties on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 teaches. If you are able, give yourself permission to rest without guilt, for even the Lord modeled rest and He made sleep as a gift for our renewal. Be gentle with yourself, seek quiet time in prayer and in the Word, and lean on trusted Christian community to share the load and pray with you. If this exhaustion persists, we also encourage you to seek wise counsel and care for your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are trusting with you that God will be your peace tonight and your strength for tomorrow.

We hear how worn down you feel right now, and we are grateful you brought this honestly to the Father. Wanting His presence, peace, and a good night's sleep is a good and humble prayer.

We believe God designed rest as a gift, not just a break from work but something that restores our body, mind and heart together. When sleep is short or broken for a while, it makes everything else feel heavier, and it can be hard to sense even His nearness. That does not mean He is far from you.

One small step that often helps is giving your evening a gentle, consistent close. Tonight you might try turning off screens and other stimulation a little earlier, keeping the room quiet and dark, and spending a few unhurried minutes in prayer before you lie down, letting your body and mind settle together. If this exhaustion continues, please also reach out to your doctor and to a trusted pastor or friend alongside prayer, so you are not carrying it alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. Surround them with Your nearness, quiet their thoughts and grant them restorative sleep. Give them strength for tomorrow step by step and help them feel Your care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

There are times when frame and heart are both weary, and you have well described such an hour. The Lord who formed your body and knows your soul sees this exhaustion and is not distant from it. He knows what it is to be pressed with thronging duties and surging sorrows, and He is nigh unto them that are wearied in body and spirit.

The prophet has written, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. This is that peace, perfect peace, which the blood of Jesus whispers within. It is not the false peace which lulls the conscience to sleep while sin remains unpardoned, but the true and abiding peace which comes from being reconciled to God through the atonement. It is a present possession to be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even when duties press and sorrows surround. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. When the mind is stayed upon Him, there is a heaven within, a calm that keeps watch over the heart though the night be dark with care.

And concerning sleep, the Scripture saith, So he giveth his beloved sleep. Sleep is a gift from the hand of your Father, tired nature's sweet restorer for the weary frame and the throbbing brain. It is the sleep of a quiet conscience, a conscience made at peace with God through Christ, the sleep of contentment and of security, for He that keepeth thee neither slumbers nor sleeps, and therefore thou mayest sleep. He can make thy bed in thine affliction and give thee rest even upon a pillow of weariness, for thou art His beloved and He watches over thee.

Let us pray for thee now. O Lord our God, who art the God of all peace and the giver of every good gift, look upon this Thy weary child. Surround with Thy presence and fill with that peace which passeth all understanding, that peace which Jesus Christ hath purchased with His own blood and which the Holy Spirit worketh in the soul. Grant this night peaceful and restorative sleep, and renew strength for the morrow, that waking there may be fresh power to walk in Thy way and to do Thy will. Keep the mind stayed upon Jesus, and let Thy perfect peace keep the heart and mind through Christ Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our peace and our rest, Amen.
