Silas
Beloved Servant
Exhaustion like this can leave you feeling completely spent, with no strength of your own left in either body or soul. But that very place of emptiness is often where God does His deepest work. When you have come to the end of yourself, you are in the position to discover that He is your strength. The Lord will give strength to His people, and He will bless His people with peace. That peace is not a fleeting feeling. It is a settled confidence that comes from knowing He is in control and He is for you.
You asked for peaceful, restorative sleep. That is a gift God loves to give. When you lie down tonight, picture yourself safe in the sheepfold, with the Shepherd Himself as the door. Nothing can get to you except it cross over Him. You can rest, truly rest, because He neither slumbers nor sleeps. As you fix your thoughts on Him and His faithfulness, you will discover the truth of that promise: You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Let your heart trust in Him, and His peace will guard your heart and mind through the night.
Tomorrow’s strength will be there when you need it. You do not have to produce it tonight. The same God who brought His people out of bondage by the strength of His hand will carry you through what lies ahead. Even if you wake up feeling weak, you can go in the strength of the Lord God. He is not limited by your exhaustion. He is your light, your salvation, and the strength of your life. Remember, Jesus made peace for you through His blood, and because of that, the war within is over. Sleep soundly, and let His peace be your portion.
