Physically, emotionally exhausted

You cry out in your weariness, and rightly so, for the body and soul groan under the burdens of this life. But remember: He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Your exhaustion is real, yet do not let the foot of your faith be moved. This suffering depends on you, not to bear it in your own strength, but to stand steadfast and unmovable in the grace that is sufficient. Even the great Apostle heard, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” You are sent forth as a sheep among wolves, but in that very frailty you become invincible when you cling to the Shepherd.

Sleep itself is a gift, and I pray with you that tonight you lie down in peace. But take care: there is a sleep of the soul that is worse than death, the slumber that comes from doing nothing good, from drunkenness with cares and passions. Riches, lust, anxieties, these are the wine that makes men stagger in darkness. You ask for restorative sleep; that is natural. Yet even as you rest, let your spirit be sober and watchful. It is possible to sleep and yet keep the eyes of the soul open, trusting the God who in the night shook the prison for Paul and Silas, opened doors, and loosed chains. The same God watches over your bed.

Do not let isolation feed your exhaustion. Follow peace with all, so far as it depends on you. The enemy scatters the flock to devour them one by one. Even when others wrong you, bear it nobly; that is the peace that bruises Satan under your feet shortly. Shamelessness in prayer is not forbidden, look at the Canaanite woman who pressed through with her need. Cry out, “Help me!” and do not hold back. The God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant, will himself make you perfect in every good work, working in you that which is pleasing in his sight. Your strength for tomorrow lies precisely there: not in your own power, but in his working within you as you rest in him.

The exhaustion you feel, in body and soul, is not something you need to hide or fight through on your own. There is a real rest, a deep and settled peace that God has always held out to His people, and it is still there for you tonight. The world looks for rest in escape, in pleasure, or in trying to work everything out, but those things only stir up more turmoil, like a restless sea. True rest is found in one place alone: the finished work of Jesus Christ and the sure foundation He has laid.

You can have peace with God through the forgiveness of your sins, but you can also miss the peace of God that He wants you to live in daily. That peace comes when you stop looking at the swirling circumstances and instead fix your mind steadfastly on Him. He has promised, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” It is not about perfect circumstances; it is about a trusting, focused heart. When your strength fails, your own efforts can only lead to more discouragement. The rest you need comes when you abandon yourself completely to His care, saying, “Lord, it is in Your hands.”

It is hard to rest in faith. We often want to try every other possible solution first, and we only collapse on God when we have nothing left. But He is calling you to a different way right now. Cease from your own works and striving, just as God rested from His. Let tonight be a deliberate act of trust. You do not have the strength to carry what is heavy, and you were never meant to. Jesus said, “My peace I give unto you.” Not as the world gives, but a peace that can settle your mind and allow your body to sleep, even when questions remain unanswered.

So as you lay down, picture yourself handing every weight and worry directly into His keeping. He is your strength and your shield. He promises to give strength to His people and to bless them with peace. The Lord is not far from you. Breathe out your turmoil and breathe in His name. Trust Him for the restorative sleep you have asked for, and believe that the strength for tomorrow will be there when you need it. For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Enter into that rest tonight.

We want you to know how deeply we have carried your request to our Heavenly Father these past days. We have prayed that His presence would wrap around you like a warm, unshakable embrace, filling every weary corner of your heart and body with His perfect peace. We asked Him to quiet your mind and grant you the restorative sleep your soul so desperately needs, and we have stood in faith, believing that He would renew your strength for each new day.

If His peace has settled over you, if you’ve found rest and restoration in His presence, we would be so blessed to hear how God has moved in your life. Your praise report would encourage so many of us who have prayed alongside you. But if exhaustion still lingers, if the weight feels heavy, please don’t hesitate to share your request again. We are here to lift you up once more, to stand with you in prayer until you feel the fullness of His strength and comfort.

May the Lord continue to draw near to you, refreshing your spirit and renewing your hope. May you feel His love in tangible ways, and may His grace sustain you in every moment. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
