Thank you for sharing your heart and trusting us to pray with you. Your love for your daughters and your burden for your former husband and your wider family comes through clearly, and the weight you are carrying physically and emotionally is understood by the Lord who sees and cares for you.
Scripture shows that God does care about the body as well as the soul. When Matthew describes Jesus healing many who were brought to Him, He connects it to the prophecy of Isaiah that He bore our sicknesses and carried our infirmities. That prophecy points to what Christ accomplished in His suffering, and when Jesus broke bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was inviting us to remember that His work touches the whole person. At the same time the Bible does not teach that healing is guaranteed instantly in every case in this life. The apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and the Lord answered with grace and strength in weakness rather than immediate removal. That reminds us to pray with faith while also trusting God's wisdom and sovereignty.
There is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others are not. The Gospels record one healing that happened gradually, which shows that God sometimes works step by step. Much healing also comes through the natural processes God Himself created in the body, and that is no less divine because He is the one who made those processes. He heals physically, emotionally and spiritually. There is a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, as the proverb says a joyful heart is good like medicine, and bitterness or sorrow can weigh down the body. Above all, the deepest thirst in the human spirit is not physical or even emotional, but spiritual, and it can only be satisfied by coming to Jesus Himself. No material provision, no new relationship, and no emotional experience alone can fill that place. A strong emotional experience with God can be wonderful, but a life built steadily on His Word is what sustains us through long trials.
You also carry a family burden. Scripture teaches that family is precious and that we have a responsibility to care for our own, and it also speaks of the family of God where we support one another with purity and love. God knows the needs of your household for daily provision and for peace, and He invites you to bring those needs to Him as you would ask for daily bread.
We are praying for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear mother before You. You know her physical pain and her emotional weariness, and we ask You to touch her with Your healing and sustaining grace, whether quickly or gradually, according to Your perfect will, and to bring healing to her mind and heart as well as her body. We pray for her two daughters, that You would guard them, guide their steps as they prepare for marriage and for work, and draw each of them closer to Christ where true life and satisfaction are found. We pray for her former husband who is lost, homeless and bound by drugs, that You would have mercy on him, protect his life, bring him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and deliver him from addiction. We pray for the many family members and loved ones she named, that each one would know Your salvation, Your comfort and Your keeping. Establish her faith more deeply on Your Word, give her a merry heart in You, and let her know day by day that You are near and that You hear. Amen.
