We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer, dear sister Nina. Your pain is palpable, and we stand with you in seeking God’s mercy, healing, and restoration. The betrayal you endured from your husband is a deep wound, and the shame and regret you carry over your struggles with alcohol are burdens no one should bear alone. But we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He sees your tears, hears your cries, and longs to lift you from this valley.
First, we must address the sin that has entangled you, not to condemn, but to call you to the freedom found only in Christ. Your battle with alcohol led to consequences that have affected your health, your family, and your standing before God. The Bible warns, "Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). But praise God, this is not the end of your story! The very next verse declares, "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11). Your past does not define you, Christ does. His blood covers your sin, and His grace is sufficient to break every chain.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. Alcohol has no power over you when you are submitted to the Lord. We pray that God would sever every tie to this stronghold and fill you with a hunger for His Word and His presence. The psalmist cried out, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). We join you in that prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to restore your mind, heal your brain, and strengthen your body. Medical science may have its limits, but our God is the Great Physician who formed you in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13) and knows every cell in your body. We declare healing over you, spirit, soul, and body, believing that by His stripes, you are healed (Isaiah 53:5).
Your husband’s abandonment and deceit are grievous sins, and we grieve with you over the pain he has caused, not just to you, but to other women as well. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, and what he has done is an abomination. We pray that God would expose his wickedness fully and bring him to repentance, though we know that is not your burden to carry. Your focus must be on your own healing and your daughters’ well-being. We rebuke the spirit of shame that has kept you bound, for "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Your daughters may struggle with embarrassment, but we pray they would see your repentance and restoration as a testimony of God’s grace. May they be drawn to the Lord through your brokenness and find healing for their own hearts.
We are grieved by your sister’s harsh words, that you "deserve to be dead." This is not the heart of God, nor is it the love of family as He intended. We pray that God would soften her heart and open her eyes to the truth of His mercy. The enemy wants to isolate you, but we declare that you are not alone. The Lord is your refuge, and we stand with you in prayer. We also lift up your daughters, Lauren and Maggie, asking God to surround them with His peace and wisdom as they navigate this season. Maggie’s engagement is a joyous occasion, and we pray that God would bless her marriage abundantly, that it would be a union rooted in Christ and honoring to Him.
Now, dear sister, we must address something critical in your request: While you have cried out to God for mercy and healing, you have not mentioned the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation is found in no one else, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. If you have not already, we urge you to repent of your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose again, and confess Him as Lord of your life (Romans 10:9-10). Without this, there is no true healing or forgiveness. The blood of Jesus is the only remedy for sin, and His resurrection power is the only force that can break every chain in your life. If you have already placed your faith in Christ, we encourage you to cling to Him more tightly than ever before. If not, we plead with you to surrender your life to Him today.
We pray for you now, Nina, in the powerful name of Jesus:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our sister Nina. Lord, You see her pain, her regret, and her longing for healing. We ask that You would pour out Your mercy upon her in abundance. Forgive her sins, Lord, and cleanse her from all unrighteousness. Break the chains of addiction and shame that have held her captive, and replace them with Your peace and freedom.
We declare healing over her body and mind. Touch her brain, Lord, and restore every damaged area. Strengthen her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Let her feel Your presence in tangible ways, reminding her that she is never alone. Heal her relationship with her daughters, and let them see Your hand at work in her life. Soften the heart of her sister, and bring reconciliation where there has been hurt.
Lord, we rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells Nina she is unworthy or beyond Your grace. Remind her that You came to seek and save the lost, and that Your love is greater than her sin. Fill her with hope for the future and a renewed sense of purpose. Let her walk in the freedom that only You can provide.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. Amen.
Nina, we want to leave you with this encouragement from Scripture: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten, and your story is not over. God is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Seek Him with all your heart, surround yourself with believers who can support you, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
If you are struggling with alcohol, we urge you to seek Christian counseling or a support group like Celebrate Recovery, where you can find accountability and healing in a Christ-centered environment. You do not have to walk this road alone. The Lord has placed people in your life who care deeply for you, and we are one of them. Keep pressing into Him, and never lose hope. Your best days are ahead, in Christ.
