We have read your request and we are lifting you up together before the throne of grace in Jesus name. We thank God that you are home now and doing better after all you have been through with sickness, being fired, arrested, hospitalized and time in a nursing home. God has preserved your life and His mercy is still reaching for you, and we praise Him for that.
We hear your heart crying out for forgiveness and for mercy, and that you feel ashamed and say you were stupid and in pain. We want you to know that God does forgive when we come to Him through Jesus Christ. You asked for God to forgive you, and we rejoice that you are seeking Him, but we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and forgiveness of sins. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, confessing your sins to Him and turning from them. As it is written in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And in Psalm 103:12, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. When He forgives, He does not hold your shame over you. In Romans 8:1 we are reminded, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Your shame is real, but in Christ you can be washed clean, for in Isaiah 1:18, Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
We also want to lovingly address the drinking of alcohol in your time of pain. We understand you were hurting after your husband disappeared, but drunkenness is not the way God would have us cope and it brings destruction to our bodies, our witness, and our lives. In Proverbs 20:1, Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. And in Ephesians 5:18, Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. We encourage you in repentance to turn away from alcohol completely and to seek the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of believers instead. God wants to heal not only your body but to set you free from that bondage.
We are praying for your physical healing. Though you are better now, you have been very sick and your body has been through much. We ask God to complete His healing work in you. In Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. And in Jeremiah 30:17, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask Him to strengthen you day by day and to give you wisdom to care for your body as His temple.
Concerning your husband who disappeared, we grieve with you over this abandonment. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God, as Jesus taught in Matthew 19:6, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart. While we do not know if he will return, we pray for God's will in your marriage, that if it is possible and godly, there would be repentance and restoration, and if not, that God would heal your heart, guard you from bitterness, and if you were to pursue another relationship in the future it would be a courtship with a fellow believer with marriage as the goal, honoring God in purity. Fornication and adultery, which is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and a woman, is sin before God, and we encourage you to remain pure and honor Him with your body.
We also lift up your two grown daughters whom you miss so deeply. We pray God would soften hearts, open doors of communication, and bring reconciliation. In Malachi 4:6, He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers. We ask God to restore those bonds in His timing.
For your sister who took your car, jewelry and money, we pray for both justice and mercy. We pray that what was taken would be returned if it is right, and that you would be able to forgive as Christ forgave you, not holding onto bitterness. In Ephesians 4:32, And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. And in Romans 12:19, Do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We pray God would work in your sister's heart and bring peace to your family.
We pray together now for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our sister who is hurting and seeking Your mercy. We thank You that she is alive and home and improving. We ask You to forgive her sins as she confesses them to You through Jesus, to wash her clean and lift her shame. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit instead of alcohol and give her strength to walk in sobriety and freedom. Lord, touch her body and complete her healing, restore her health and give her peace. Comfort her in the pain of her husband leaving and her daughters being distant, and let Your perfect will be done in her marriage and family. Bring her daughters back into fellowship with her and heal those relationships. Work in her sister's heart regarding her possessions and help our sister to forgive. Restore what has been lost as You see fit and provide for all her needs. Surround her with a Bible believing church family who will love her, disciple her, and hold her accountable. Let her know how much You love her and that Your mercies are new every morning as in Lamentations 3:22-23. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to stay close to God daily in prayer and in reading His Word, to meet regularly with a local church, and to seek godly counsel and accountability to remain free from alcohol. If you have not fully surrendered your life to Jesus, do so today and follow Him in obedience. God is able to make all things new. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. We are continuing to pray for you.
