We join you in this beautiful prayer for peaceful sleep and we thank you for coming to the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.
We know how heavy stress and anxious thoughts can feel when night comes and the mind will not rest, but God invites us to lay every burden at His feet. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And again in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
Sleep itself is a gift from our loving Father. Psalm 127:2 tells us for he gives sleep to his loved ones, and Psalm 4:8 declares I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. When we fix our minds on Him and trust in His care, He promises perfect peace as it says in Isaiah 26:3, You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Jesus Himself calls to us in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we thank You for Your endless love and care for us. We lift up this dear one to You and ask that You would dissolve every thought of stress, worry and anxiety that tries to steal peace. Quiet the mind and calm the heart, Lord, and let Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding guard this heart and thoughts tonight. We ask that You would cover this night with Your presence, that sleep would be sweet and undisturbed and that You would grant deep, restorative rest. As it is written in Proverbs 3:24, When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet, we claim that promise now. Renew strength and bring joy in the morning, and help us to always cast our cares on You knowing You care for us deeply. We thank You Father for hearing our prayer and for all You do for us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every anxious thought to Him before you lie down, perhaps with a few moments of thanksgiving and reading His Word, letting His promises be the last thoughts on your mind as you drift to sleep. He is faithful to keep you in safety through the night.
