Beloved of All
Father, I come to You at the end of this day to surrender the heavy weights I have carried. I ask You to quiet my racing mind, settle my physical body, and release any lingering trauma or anxiety into Your hands. Your Word promises that You give Your beloved sleep, so I claim that sweet, uninterrupted rest tonight. Post Your angels around my bed, guard my mind against nightmares or intrusive thoughts, and wrap me in Your perfect peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We join you in surrendering this day and all its heavy weights into the Father's hands, and we thank you for coming to Him through Jesus Christ, for it is only through His name that we have access to the throne of grace.

We love your heart to claim His promises over your sleep, because His Word indeed declares that He gives sleep to His beloved, Psalm 127:2, and that in peace we will both lay ourselves down and sleep, for Yahweh alone makes us live in safety, Psalm 4:8. When the mind races and the body holds tension from trauma and anxiety, we are invited to cast all our worries on Him, because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and to be anxious in nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God, Philippians 4:6. The promise that follows is so precious for the night, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7.

We also stand with you for the guarding of your mind and your bed, for the angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them, Psalm 34:7, and we are comforted that when we lie down, we will not be afraid, yes we will lie down, and our sleep will be sweet, Proverbs 3:24. He will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in Him, Isaiah 26:3.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this beloved child to You at the close of this day. We ask You to gently quiet every racing thought and settle every tense part of the body. We place all lingering trauma, worry, and anxiety into Your capable and loving hands. Forgive us for carrying what You never asked us to carry alone. We ask You to wash the mind and heart with Your perfect peace that passes all understanding, and to guard the heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus through the night. Post Your angels around this bed as a hedge of protection, keep away nightmares and intrusive thoughts, and let Your presence be a blanket of comfort and safety. Grant sweet, deep, uninterrupted rest, and restore soul, mind, and body as only You can. We trust You to watch over this sleep and to wake us renewed in Your mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We're so glad you brought this to the Lord at the close of the day. Carrying heavy thoughts all day can leave both mind and body wound tight, and wanting quiet sleep without nightmares or intrusive thoughts is such an understandable desire.

We noticed you named both the racing mind and the physical restlessness, and that makes sense, worry and tension often show up together, in thoughts and in the body at once. It is good you are learning to place those weights into God's hands before you try to sleep, rather than carrying them into the night alone.

One small rhythm that helps many people is to give the mind a clear handoff before bed. A few minutes of dimming lights, turning off screens, and perhaps letting a quiet hymn play softly as you simply tell God what is still on your mind can signal to your whole self that it is time to rest. If anxious nights or intrusive thoughts keep returning, we also encourage you to share that with a pastor or counselor or your doctor alongside prayer, so you are not carrying it alone.

Father, we bring our friend to You tonight. Quiet what is racing, settle what feels tense, and guard sleep with Your peace. Keep watch through the night and wake them restored in Your care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

To come to the Father at the close of day and lay down the heavy weights you have carried is itself a mercy, and it is right that you should do so. He who watches over you neither slumbers nor sleeps, and therefore you may sleep.

There is a sleep peculiar to the children of God, of which the Psalmist says, so he giveth his beloved sleep. It is not merely the rest of the weary body, but the sleep of contentment and the sleep of security. How few in this world are satisfied, but the believer may be content, for his soul rests in Christ. And he may sleep securely, for he is kept by One who is greater than all his fears. To lie down in peace is to rest under the watchful eye of the Shepherd who knows you altogether. He knows that sick body, that aching head, that timidity, that anxiety, that constitutional depression, he knows it all, and your secret is with Him.

You speak of a racing mind and lingering trauma and anxiety. Be assured that anxiety has never comforted any soul, nor brought any grist to the mill. Indeed, the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Anxiety does not pay, and there is no good in it when it is confined within yourself. What is needed is to cast your burden upon the Lord, for He careth for you. If you have told your trouble to Jesus, you have done well, and you may leave it there.

May the Lord Himself quiet your mind and settle your frame tonight. May He grant you that sweet rest which He gives to His beloved, and guard your thoughts from all fear and disturbance. We ask the Father that He would encamp His angels about your bed, that He would keep your mind in perfect peace as it is stayed upon Him, and that you may both lay you down in peace and sleep, for He maketh you to dwell in safety.

Father, we bring this dear one before Your throne of grace at the end of this day. You see the weights carried and the cares that have pressed hard. We ask You to lift them from weary shoulders and take them into Your own hands. Quiet the racing thoughts, calm the body, and let Your perfect peace, which passes all understanding, keep heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Grant refreshing sleep according to Your loving kindness, keep far from nightmares and intrusive thoughts, and let this night be spent under the shadow of Your wings. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Redeemer, who is our rest and our security. Amen.
