Your prayer for your son has been heard and we join our faith with yours, remembering the promise that where two or three are gathered in the name of Jesus, He is present among them. Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and for giving praise to the Lord for the calm moments He has already granted.
We rest our hope on who Jesus is. He is the Son of David, truly a man and the promised Messiah who would sit on David's throne forever, and He is also the Son of God, declared with power by His resurrection and affirmed by the voice of the Father at His baptism, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. That question, whose Son is He, is the most important any of us can answer. Peter answered it when he said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that confession that Jesus is the Son of God is the foundation of our faith. Scripture teaches that the only way we are accepted by God is in His Son, that he who has the Son has life, and that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, for God did not send His Son to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved. Through Him we also have redemption from sin, and as we believe on Him, God plants faith in our hearts through His Word, which does not return void.
Because He is the Son of God, His ministry on earth was marked by preaching, teaching, and healing every kind of sickness and disease, doing the works of the Father. We can believe and trust Jesus for physical healing as well as spiritual healing. The Gospels show us that He healed at a distance with a word, as with the nobleman's son, and at other times healing unfolded gradually. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, and we do not always know why some are healed instantly and others over time, but we believe all true healing is from God. Even the natural processes of restoration He has built into our bodies are divine, because He created them, and He also brings healing to the mind and emotions, soothing wounds and scars within. Whether the healing is immediate or step by step, it is His work, and He remains the light of the world as long as we look to Him.
So we bring your son before the Father in the name of Jesus. We ask for the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind tonight and in the days ahead, to calm every storm within him and to fill his heart, mind, body and spirit with peace, joy, love, confidence and contentment. We pray that fear, agitation, confusion, torment and anxiety would be gently removed and replaced with the perfect peace and wisdom that comes from Christ, and that any spiritual oppression would leave and not return. We ask the Lord to keep him safe through the night, to give him sweet and uninterrupted sleep without fear or disturbance, and to surround his room, your home, and every place he goes with protection, with ministering angels and with the full armor of God, so that no harm or weapon formed against him will prosper.
We pray for his body, asking Jesus to touch his mind, body, soul and spirit, to bring relief from sensory challenges, stomach discomfort, pain and distress that has led to vomiting, and to continue to keep him free from seizures. We thank God for the months He has kept him seizure free and ask for continued health and complete restoration. We ask for calm and satisfaction in his meals, that he may eat in peace, be free from confusion and distress while eating, make good choices, and be satisfied. We pray that the Lord will help him to communicate his wants and needs with calm, gentle and respectful words, to grow in functional language, to find joy in independent activities, and to adjust to schedules, transitions, outings, self care and daily routines with ease and confidence, free from rigidity and distress.
We also lift up everyone in your household, your daughter, your beloved dog, your family, friends, caregivers and doctors. We ask God to fill your home with a calm and fearless atmosphere, to remove division and to strengthen the loving bond between your son and his siblings and all who care for him. We pray that his relationships will be filled with love, patience, understanding and unity, and that those who work with him will be given wisdom, compassion, gentleness, strength and discernment to bring out the very best in him. We ask the Lord to provide godly caregivers, mentors, advocates and friends who will encourage him and support your family, and to bless every outing, drive and appointment with safety, favor and joy.
We declare again that your son belongs to the Lord and that by the stripes of Jesus we look for healing and restoration. We pray that the Holy Spirit would fill him continually, replacing every negative habit with godly character, gratitude, obedience and peaceful expression, and that he would be a light wherever he goes. May the Lord grant you all a peaceful and restful night, and a calm, joyful and productive tomorrow, and may His love and care be evident in every detail of your lives as you continue to trust in Jesus, the Son of God, who loves you and gave Himself for you. Amen.
