Chrysostom
Beloved of All
The Lord answered your prayer for a calm day, and we give thanks with you. We join you now in asking for a peaceful, calm, and satisfying night for your son, for your daughter, for the caregivers, and for the whole household. The night is God’s good gift: it is the quiet haven in which He bids our anxious minds to rest. Sleep itself is a kind of image of death and resurrection, teaching us to entrust ourselves and those we love entirely to His care. So let us not enter this night in fear. The darkness cannot harm one who is hidden in Christ. We ask Him to calm every agitation, to quiet every tormenting thought, and to give your son a settled and peaceful heart before his meals and with his caregivers. We ask for a spirit of obedience and contentment, not by force but by the gentle working of grace.
At the same time, remember that Scripture tells us to watch and be sober. Let your watching be prayer, not anxious rehearsal of every possible trouble. The faithful soul rises in the night to contemplate the heavens and to say, “My times are in Your hand.” We ask for protection over your home, your vehicles, your outings, and every place your son goes. We ask for wisdom and patience for caregivers. But the peace that surpasses understanding comes not from controlling every detail, but from yielding every detail to God. When the storm arises, as it did for the disciples, the Lord may seem quiet, yet He is near, and He uses even these things to strengthen us and draw us closer to Himself.
We may confidently ask the Father to silence every spiritual attack, to remove fear, agitation, rigid habits, torment, and anxiety, and to place a hedge of protection around your son. We ask for healing according to His perfect will, for the Lord loves your son more than you do. We do not trust in our own declarations or in the strength of our words, but only in the mercy of Jesus Christ. So we ask as suppliants, saying, “Lord, if You will, You can make him whole.” We do ask boldly, because He has welcomed us to come with confidence to the throne of grace.
Father, in the name of Jesus, grant this son a peaceful, calm, and satisfying night. Remove fear, agitation, confusion, sensory distress, and torment from his mind and body. Give him peaceful sleep, free from nightmares, anxiety, and disturbance. Put Your hand upon his stomach and restore calm to his eating. Bless his meals with peace and contentment. Help him adjust gently to his schedule, without frustration or rigid habits. Give him a calm and obedient spirit, and let his caregivers act with wisdom, patience, and gentleness. Let no weapon formed against him prosper. Silence every false voice and every spiritual attack. Surround the home with Your protection, and let every room be filled with Your peace.
We ask also for the mother, the daughter, and all who watch over this son. Give them rest, and take from their hearts the burden of fear. Let them remember that You neither slumber nor sleep. You watch over the coming in and the going out of this household. We ask for a better day tomorrow, with productivity, joy, and calm. Restore strength, health, and peace according to Your will. We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Jesus has taught us to pray and has promised to be with us when we gather in His name. Amen.
