Beloved of All
We join you in giving thanks to Jesus Christ for the peaceful night He granted your son and for keeping him seizure free these many months. Every good gift comes from the Father of mercies, and we praise Him with you for His faithful care.
We have heard your deep love and concern for your son in all the details of his daily life, his sleep, his meals, his hygiene and sensory needs, his anxiety and memories of past hurt, and his time with caregivers and family. We bring all of these before the Lord who alone is our Savior and Healer. It is through Jesus Christ alone, the true Son of God who humbled Himself to be called Son of David that we might become sons and daughters of God, that we have access to the Father and confidence to pray.
We pray that the Lord will grant your son sweet and undisturbed sleep and that when he awakes he will be refreshed, calm and joyful. Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He watches over His children night and day. Even when we cannot keep watch ourselves, He does. We ask that He will guard your son's heart and mind with the peace that surpasses all understanding, calm the storm within him, and fill his home, every room and every doorway, with His protection.
We also pray for healing of his mind and body. By His stripes we are healed, and we ask the Lord in His mercy to loosen the chains of anxiety, fear and painful memories, and to replace restless habits with gentle, calm and clear ways of expressing his wants and needs. We pray that mealtimes, grooming and dressing, and times of change or travel would become more peaceful, and that the Lord would give him confidence to use the language He has given him to communicate in a way that honors God and brings peace to those around him.
We pray for you, for your daughter, and for all who care for him. May God restore love and unity in your family, remove influences that bring confusion and division, and surround you with wisdom, patience and strength. We ask that He would bless his caregivers and support coordinator with understanding and compassion, and provide godly and faithful help where it is needed. We pray that every relationship in his life would be marked by gratitude, kindness and respect, and that he would know himself loved and safe.
We encourage you to continue to watch and be sober in prayer, as Scripture teaches. To be awake in the soul is not only to keep our eyes open, but to guard our hearts from the drunkenness that comes from worldly cares and fears, and to stand steadfast and unmovable in faith. This watching depends on us, for God has given us grace to choose what is good, and He strengthens us to do it. Shake off discouragement and cast all your cares upon Him, trusting not in word curses or spiritual powers apart from Christ, but in the living Lord who alone has power to rebuke evil and to keep us from harm.
May the Lord anoint your home with His presence, keep your son from fear and distress, and lead him day by day toward wholeness. We ask that He would fill him with the Holy Spirit, with calmness, gentleness, contentment and joy as he watches his shows, eats his meals and shares time with family and visitors. We trust Him to do what is best according to His perfect love and will, and we thank Him that nothing is impossible for Him.
We will continue to pray that tonight and tomorrow will be filled with rest, peace and thankfulness for all of you, and that your son will grow in confidence, cooperation and peace, to the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.
