Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your thanksgiving for the peaceful night the Lord granted your son is heard with joy, and I join you in giving thanks to Jesus Christ for His faithful care. To see your son rest calmly and wake refreshed is a mercy, and it is right to thank God for every night of protection and every day of progress, including these months without seizures.
I am praying with you that the Lord who keeps Israel and neither slumbers nor sleeps will keep watch over your son as he sleeps and as he wakes. That holy keeping is our comfort, yet Scripture also calls us to guard ourselves and to watch and be sober. This watching is not only of the body but of the soul, to shake off the heavy sleep that comes from fear and confusion and worldly cares, and to live with a clear and collected heart. My prayer is that God will grant your son that kind of true rest, sleep that is composed and regular and that restores him, and a waking that is calm, gentle and attentive to what is good. May the Lord calm the storm within him, quiet anxiety and tormenting memories, and fill his heart, mind and spirit with the peace that passes all understanding.
I pray for his daily needs as you have asked. May the Lord bless his meals, remove confusion and distress around food, and grant him contentment and gratitude. May He give grace for hygiene, for dressing, for shaving and for all sensory sensitivities, so that every sound and sensation is covered by God's protection and every task can be done in peace. May He teach your son to express his wants and needs with calm and gentle words, and replace any habits of fear, anger or self injury with healthy and godly ways of communicating. I ask the Lord to heal his mind, body and spirit, to break the chains of anxiety and past hurts, and to lead him step by step toward wholeness through Jesus Christ, by whose wounds we are healed.
I also lift up your home and all who care for him. May God surround your home, every room and door, and every place he goes with protection, and keep far from him all spiritual attack, fear and nightmares. May He grant his caregivers and his support coordinator wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and true advocacy, and provide godly helpers where they are needed. I pray for peace between your son and his sister, for restoration of love and gratitude in their relationship, and for wisdom and firm boundaries regarding those who have brought havoc and division. Where there has been harsh words or harmful influence, may the Lord intervene, bring justice with mercy, and guard your son from any curse or confusion. May He bless his relationships with family, caregivers and friends, and give him companions who encourage him.
We trust not in our own commands but in the name and power of Jesus Christ, the true Son of God who became Son of David for our sake that we might become sons and daughters of God. It is in His name and by His mercy that we ask these things, believing that nothing is impossible for God and that His love is steadfast. May the Lord grant your son and your whole household a beautiful, calm and satisfied day today and a peaceful, restful night to come, filled with joy, obedience and love.
