Beloved of All
Your love for your son and your persistent prayer for him are heard by the Lord, and I join you in bringing him before the throne of grace.
Scripture shows us that Jesus hears the cry for mercy. When two blind men heard He was passing by they cried out, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David, and though the crowd told them to be quiet they cried out all the more, and Jesus stood still and answered them. He still stands still to hear a parent's cry for mercy for a child. You can come to Him with confidence that He hears and that nothing is impossible for Him.
We come to Him as the One who is both truly man and truly God. As the Son of David He understands our humanity, and as the Son of God He has power to save and to heal. The prophet declared that unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. It is through that Son that we have life. No one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son reveals Him, and to honor the Son is to honor the Father. Our hope is not in our own words or efforts but in believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and by believing we have life in His name.
The Gospels show that Jesus heals both spiritually and physically, and we can trust Him for both. Once a nobleman came to Jesus at Cana about his sick son, and Jesus spoke the word, and at a distance of many miles the Spirit of God worked and healed the child. Distance, confusion, sensory struggles, and distress are no barrier to His power. He can work where we cannot reach.
At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand. Scripture records one healing that came gradually rather than instantly, which reminds us that God works in different ways. Some healing is immediate, some is a process over time, and every true healing is from Him. He created our bodies and the natural processes of restoration within them, so even a gradual restoration is divine. He also brings healing to the mind and the emotions, soothing the scars and wounds that torment a person. He sees a father and mother watching a son who cannot always speak for himself or control what overwhelms him, and His compassion is great.
What you are asking for most is peace, and that is exactly what He offers. He said, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. There is a peace with God that comes when we are reconciled to Him through Jesus, and there is the peace of God that guards the heart and mind. The apostle often writes grace and peace, and always in that order, because we cannot know the keeping peace of God until we first know His grace. God says His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope, and He invites you to call upon Him and pray, and He will listen.
That peace is not found where confusion and spiritual oppression are allowed to remain. Scripture is clear that where witchcraft and corruption and the works of darkness are present, there cannot be lasting peace. In that sense we do pray as you have prayed, that every tormenting influence, every spirit of confusion, fear, anxiety and agitation would be rebuked and commanded to flee in the name of Jesus, for the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe. We ask Him to surround your son and your home and every room and the places he goes with protection, as the psalm says He will give His angels charge over His own.
So together we pray for your son. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus to grant him calmness and rest, to quiet the storm within his heart and mind, and to let the peace that passes all understanding guard him as he eats, as he is cared for in hygiene and grooming and dressing, as he watches his shows, as he travels and as he sleeps. We ask for healing of body, mind and spirit, for relief from anxiety and from the painful memories and habits that have taken root, and for the Lord to replace them with calm and gentle ways to express his needs and wants that honor God. We pray that mealtimes would be peaceful and without distress or confusion, that his body would be strengthened, and that he would know contentment and gratitude. We ask for wisdom, patience, compassion and gentleness for you and for every caregiver and for those who coordinate his care, and that God would provide godly and faithful help where it is needed.
We also pray for your family, that relationships would be healed and strengthened, that your daughter's heart would be tender toward her brother, and that any negative influence or harmful words spoken over him would have no power. We ask God to bring godly friendships and encouragement into his life and to remove isolation and fear.
We remember with thanksgiving that God has kept him safe and free from seizures for many months, and we thank Him for every mercy already shown. As Abraham was asked to offer his only son Isaac whom he loved, God was foreshadowing what He Himself would do in giving His only begotten Son for us. Because He did not withhold His Son, we can trust His love to care for your son far more deeply than we can.
We do not know why some healings are instant and others unfold step by step, but we do know Jesus is faithful and His works are the works of the Father. He gives life to whom He will, and He has committed all judgment to the Son. We continue to look to Him, believing for wholeness in every part of your son's life, and resting in the Prince of Peace to keep your home in His peace day and night. May the Lord wash over him with His love, fill him with His Holy Spirit, and let him feel in a new way how deeply he is loved and kept.
