Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing so honestly about your son and his struggle to find rest. Your love and faithful prayer for him are evident, and it is right to bring his anxiety, restlessness, and confusion to the Lord who cares deeply for him and for your whole household.
We come to the Father only through His Son. There is no other way into His presence. Scripture teaches that the one who has the Son has life, and that acceptance with God is found only in Him. Jesus is not a created being among others, He is the only begotten Son of God, and it is through faith in Him that we have access to the Father, forgiveness, and peace. That is the ground of our prayer for your son tonight.
The Lord sees and He hears. Just as He saw affliction and heard the cry of those who felt unloved and overlooked, He sees your son in his distress and He hears your voice as you intercede for him. When sleep is broken and fear and frustration rise up, He is not distant. He has opened the way between heaven and earth through His Son, like a ladder planted on earth that reaches to heaven with the Lord Himself at the top, so that His help and presence can come down to us where we are.
You can rest in the heart of the Father toward your son. Jesus told of a father who did not wait for his son to clean himself up or earn his way back, but ran to him while he was still far off and covered him with love, restoring to him the place of a son and putting signs of that sonship upon him. That is the Father's heart. He is not waiting for perfection before He draws near. He welcomes, He embraces, and He restores. The picture of a father offering his only son whom he loved points us to what God Himself has done in giving His only begotten Son for us. Because He has already given such a great gift, we can trust His love and His willingness to care for your son in every detail.
God's Word also promises that when His truth is bound upon the heart, it will lead us when we go, keep us when we sleep, and speak to us when we awake. I pray that over your son, that the Lord will keep him through the night, quiet his mind and body, calm his senses, ease any physical discomfort or pain, and grant him deep, uninterrupted sleep where he wakes refreshed and at peace. May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
I join you in praying for his complete well being in body, mind and spirit. By the stripes of Jesus we have healing, and we ask the Lord to bring His restoring touch to every area of struggle, including autism, trauma responses, anxiety and sensory challenges, according to His perfect will. I pray that every spirit of fear and torment and confusion would leave and that he would be filled with calm, joy, gratefulness and clarity. I ask the Lord to surround him with His protection, that no weapon formed against him would prosper, and to clothe him with the armor He has provided, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. May the Lord command His angels to encamp around him and keep him in all his ways.
I also pray for you, his caregivers, family and friends, that God would give you wisdom, patience and discernment to know how best to help him, to establish gentle and steady routines around meals, activities and relationships, and to communicate with gentleness and confidence. I pray for godly mentors and friends who will encourage him and help bring out the best in him with a calm and caring spirit, and that any negative influence, division or strife would be removed or redirected. May the bonds between him and his siblings be strengthened with love, compassion and unity, and may your home be filled with the light and presence of Christ that dispels darkness.
Thank you for the victories the Lord has already given and for the many more peaceful days you have seen. We stand in agreement with you, believing that where two or three are gathered in His name He is present, and that He hears and answers according to His perfect will. May the Lord anoint each service and meeting concerning your son, guide every decision, and let him know in every setting that he is included, respected, accepted and loved.
May the Lord continue to guide and protect your family, grant you all restful days and peaceful nights, and fill your household with His calm, joy and safety in Jesus name.
