Peaceful Calm Night

Thank you for sharing your heart and your deep love for your son and your family. Your persistent cry for mercy is precious to the Lord, and I join you in bringing your son before Jesus in prayer.

Scripture shows us that Jesus hears that kind of earnest cry. When two blind men heard He was passing by, they cried out, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David. The crowd told them to be quiet, but they cried out even more, and Jesus stood still and answered them. He still stands still to listen when His people call on Him for mercy. He is the Son of David, the promised Messiah born as a man in the line of David, and He is also the Son of God, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, given to us from the Father because of His great love. Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder.

It is in that name that we can ask for both spiritual and physical healing. I believe we can trust Jesus for healing of the body as well as healing of the soul. Scripture tells us by His stripes we are healed, and we have seen Him heal at a distance with just a word, as He did for the nobleman's son, and also heal with a touch. Sometimes healing is immediate and sometimes it is gradual, and there is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer path. Yet every true healing process is from God, who created our bodies and ordained the means by which they are restored. Whether quickly or step by step, any healing is divine, and we can keep trusting Him for your son's mind, body and spirit, including the challenges of autism, trauma, anxiety and sensory distress.

You prayed rightly for peace, and Jesus is the only source of lasting peace. He said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. First He makes peace with God possible through His cross, and then, as we understand His grace, He gives us the peace of God to guard our hearts and minds. That is why the New Testament so often says grace and peace, in that order. We cannot truly know His peace until we rest in His grace. I pray that your son and your whole household will know both, peace with God through faith in Christ, and the daily peace of God that keeps the heart calm even when routines, meals, sleep and interactions feel difficult.

You also prayed against fear, torment, confusion and every spiritual attack and form of witchcraft. Scripture is clear that there can be no true peace where evil and occult practices are at work, and Jehu's answer to the question Is it peace makes that plain. How can there be peace while such wickedness remains. In Jesus Christ we have authority to rebuke the spirit of fear, for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind, and no weapon formed against His children shall prosper. I join you in asking that everything not of Him that seeks to steal your son's peace and joy would depart in the name of Jesus and not return.

I pray that the Lord will clothe your son with the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and that He will command His angels to encamp around him and guard him in all his ways, giving him calm over his schedule, restful sleep without disturbance, peace in eating, gentleness and confidence in communication, and joy in his daily activities.

I also pray for you, for your daughter and even for her dog, for your family, friends and every caregiver. Like a father instructing his son, our heavenly Father delights to give wisdom, patience and discernment to those who ask. I ask Him to provide godly mentors and caregivers who will follow your guidance, respect your son, include him, delight in him and bring out the best in him, and to provide services that truly help and do not cause setbacks. May the Lord mend broken relationships, remove division and isolation, and restore bonds with love, compassion, understanding and unity, so that your son's life reflects the light and grace of Christ for all to see.

We stand together in agreement, believing that where two or three are gathered in His name He is in the midst, and that He hears according to His perfect will. May His bright light dispel every shadow, fill your home with calm, joy and safety, and grant your son and your daughter quiet and satisfying rest, and may you all be strengthened and refreshed for each new day. In the name of Jesus, our Prince of Peace and our Healer, amen.
