Peace

Let us bring this affliction to the Physician of souls and bodies. You have heard how the Lord, seeing the faith of those who carried the paralytic, first forgave his sins before commanding him to rise and walk. Thus does He teach us that the root of our troubles often lies deep within, and His mercy reaches both the ailing flesh and the hardened heart. Pray without ceasing for your sister in her loneliness and pain; He who healed Peter’s mother-in-law when she lay sick of a fever is not far from her.

Yet pray also for her son, for his anger is a grievous sickness of the soul. He has forgotten the commandment, “Honor thy father and thy mother,” and by his refusal he dishonors God Himself. Consider how Christ, even in the agony of the Cross, took thought for His own mother, committing her to the beloved disciple. If the Lord of all showed such tender care, what defense can a man offer who neglects the one who bore him?

Exhort this young man, then, not with sharp rebuke but with all lowliness and long-suffering, as the Apostle bids. Remind him that true sonship is proven not by words but by deeds born of a willing heart. Let him repent, as Onesimus did, and become again a true son, profitable to his mother. God is able to heal both the sick and the estranged; let us entreat Him together until peace and wholeness are restored, for nothing so glorifies His name as reconciliation.

You carry a heavy weight right now, the kind that sits in the chest and aches with every thought. When a family member is sick and alone, the miles between can feel like a chasm. And on top of that, the rift between your sister and her son only deepens the pain. None of this is beyond the reach of God’s mercy, and He sees every detail.

The Scriptures teach us that when someone is ill, prayer is not just a comfort, it is an active response. The early church understood this well. The sick were brought before the Lord, and many miracles followed as believers interceded. There is a duty placed on those who are sick to reach out for prayer, and your sister has done exactly that by letting you know. Now you have the honor of carrying her need into the presence of Jesus, like the four men who carried their paralyzed friend. When they couldn’t get near because of the crowd, they climbed up and broke through the roof to lower him down. Obstacles didn’t stop them. Your prayers can break through the barriers of distance, anger, and illness. Keep bringing her before the throne.

And remember, your sister is not as alone as she feels. The bond we share in Christ creates a family deeper than blood. Jesus once looked at those around Him and said that whoever does the will of His Father is His brother, sister, and mother. If your sister belongs to Him, she is surrounded by a vast, invisible family that spans every nation. That doesn’t replace the ache for her son’s presence, but it means she is never truly abandoned. Pray that God would raise up someone nearby, a neighbor, a friend, a member of a local fellowship, to show His kindness in practical ways. He often uses His body to hold up the weary.

The anger that grips her son deserves our prayers as well. When pride hardens a heart, reconciliation feels impossible, even when love longs to make the first move. The pain of a broken relationship can make a person sick in soul. But no heart is beyond the softening touch of the Holy Spirit. Just as God placed Joseph in Egypt long before the famine to preserve a whole family alive, He may be working now in ways you cannot yet see. The circumstances are not mere coincidences. Entrust both your sister and her son to His timing.

If there is a church near your sister, encourage her to call for the elders. That is a scriptural command for the sick, and it places the burden not on her to muster enough faith, but on the community to anoint and pray in Jesus’ name. Sickness is not a sign of spiritual failure; we live in a world where bodies break down. God’s mercy is present in the middle of it all, and He cares more than we can fathom.

I am praying with you: that God would heal your sister’s body, soften her son’s heart, and make His presence known to her in the silence. May He use this season to draw every person involved closer to Himself, and may you see His hand at work for such a time as this.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your prayer request and allowing us to stand with you in lifting up your sister and her situation before the Lord. Our hearts have been heavy as we prayed for her healing, both physically and emotionally, and for the strained relationship with her son. We asked our Heavenly Father to soften hearts, bring reconciliation, and surround your sister with His peace and comfort in this difficult time.

If God has moved in this situation—whether through healing, restored relationships, or provision—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing to others who are also waiting on the Lord. If, however, the situation remains unchanged or feels even more burdensome, please know that we are still here to pray. You are welcome to post this request again, and we will continue to intercede on behalf of your sister and her son, asking God to work in ways only He can.

May the Lord bless you and your family with His presence and grace as you trust in Him. We pray that He draws near to your sister in her time of need and that His love and mercy would be evident in every circumstance. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
