Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your family has been received with deep care, and the weight you carry as a mother is evident in every word. You are right to bring this before the Lord with urgency, and you are right to desire what is holy, orderly and good for your children. God sees the confusion and pain in your home, and He hears the cry of a mother who longs for truth, peace and restoration.
We join you in prayer, not to ask God to bless what is outside His good design, but to ask Him to bring light, repentance, healing and protection according to His will. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and sharing the intimacy of marriage outside of that covenant is not God's path for flourishing. It is loving to pray that your daughter would be given clarity about this, and the courage to walk in a way that honors God, whether that means stepping away from this relationship or, if marriage is ever considered, that it would be entered into only with godly counsel, purity and the presence of Christ at its center.
We pray with you in this way:
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son through whom alone we have salvation and adoption as Your children, we lift up this mother and her family to You. You know the red flags, the manipulation and control that have caused such burden. We ask that You open the eyes of the older daughter to see what is true. Remove confusion and expose what is hidden. Break every ungodly tie that has formed and that keeps her bound to what is not good for her. Restore to her a clear sense of worth as Your daughter, made whole by faith in Christ, and give her courage to choose virtue and orderliness over what harms her. Lead her to prioritize her faith, her family and the future You have for her. If it is Your will, make a way for her to return home and to be reunited with her church family where she can be strengthened and encouraged.
Lord, we pray for the younger daughter as well. Guard her from negative influence and from making hasty decisions she cannot sustain. Give her wisdom about finances and about the counsel she listens to, and keep her heart grateful and respectful toward her mother and her siblings.
We especially lift up the son whom You have given as a blessing to this family. Protect him from every spiritual attack, from harsh words and from isolation. Wrap him in Your peace and let him know daily that he is loved, valued and safe in Your care and in his family. Restore the loving bond between brother and sisters, and let no one teach them to see him as a burden. Let love, honor and gratitude return to this home and drive out division, spite and disrespect.
Father, we also pray for the young man and his mother. Frustrate every plan that is rooted in control and ungodliness. Bring conviction where there is dishonesty and bring to light true intentions. Work in the heart of this young man's father to speak truth and to guide his son toward responsibility and maturity, that he would understand he is not ready for the responsibility of a relationship or a household. We pray that all who have influence in this situation would come to repentance and to the knowledge of Your truth.
Lord, heal the brokenness between siblings. Remove the spirit of division and isolation that has entered this home. Restore thankfulness, gentleness and respect. Give this mother strength to continue in prayer, to remain steady in Your Word, and to seek wise and godly counsel in her local church. Help her to keep entrusting her daughters to You, believing that You are able to deliver from evil and to supply what is good, and that You desire to lead Your children into freedom and wholeness.
We thank You that You are a protector and that a considerate and faithful heart finds pleasure not in what glitters but in piety, gentleness and the fear of God. Grant this family such healing that their home would again reflect Your order and Your love.
We ask all these things in the name of Jesus, trusting in His mercy and power to make whole. Amen.
