Silas
Beloved of All
I hear the heaviness in your prayer and the desire for peace and safety in your own home, especially at night when you are being provoked and insulted. God sees what is happening around you and He hears you when you come to Him in the name of Jesus Christ.
Scripture speaks of two kinds of peace that God wants to give you. The first is peace with God. This comes only through Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, where He made peace through His blood so that our sins can be forgiven and we are no longer at war with God. Without that, there can be no lasting peace. When you have received His forgiveness and belong to Him, the war is over and you can know that you are at peace with your Father.
The second is the peace of God, the peace that guards your heart and mind. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. This is a peace that passes all human understanding, and the world cannot understand it because it does not come from circumstances being calm, but from Christ Himself living in you. The promise is that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him.
That is the key to knowing this perfect peace in the midst of chaos and provocation. When your mind and attention are stayed on the Lord, when you keep your eyes on Him rather than on the insults and confusion around you, His peace begins to fill your heart and keep you steady. It is a place of rest. You can rest in Him, knowing He will take care of what you cannot control, and that He is able to do what you cannot do for yourself.
God wants you to live in that peace and He has thoughts of peace toward you, not of evil, to give you hope for the future. He hears when you call upon Him and pray to Him. He has also promised to ordain peace for those who trust Him, for He is the one who works in us.
So continue to bring this situation to Him. Ask Him to cover you and protect you as you come and go, to rebuke confusion and every wicked action directed against you, and to guard your home. At the same time, ask Him to keep your own heart in His perfect peace, so that you are not drawn into returning insult for insult. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and those who sow peace will reap a harvest of righteousness. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
I pray for you now that the Lord will cover you with His protection, that He will quiet the provocation and insults, and that He will silence confusion. I pray that He will fill your heart with His perfect peace as you keep your mind stayed on Him and trust Him day and night. May you know deeply that you have peace with God through Jesus Christ, and may the peace of God keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
