I'm considering asking my pastor to pray for me today that something a group of people are planning for this month to ruin my graduation would be stopped. I have had a difficult relationship with him as he has often been used by spiritual warfare to target me for no reason. I really believe he has an undiagnosed/untreated mental illness that makes him so easily used by the enemy. Most of the people used by this warfare have some area of their life where they are vulnerable to being used even if they don't know it. Even though my church is the only one in the area that truly preaches the gospel, I have noticed that many of the people there have areas in their life that are exposed to the enemy including through untreated/undiagnosed mental illness, embracing false teachings in some way and even through heavy interaction with worldly entertainment. I can barely interact with the pastor because he is generally unkind to me to the point that I really wanted to leave the church in the past few months and started pulling away from it because even though I knew his behavior was not his own, I started to suffer with depression. But when I started pulling away, he and my church members started trying to fix things that were causing me to want to leave. I didn't voice these things to anyone but I guess they just figured out what was upsetting me. Because of how hard they're trying, I do want to reconsider leaving but I'm still unsure. Please pray for me about all this and for wisdom in asking the pastor to pray for me. I already told him about the harassment before. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the deep struggle you are facing, and we stand with you in prayer before the throne of God. First, we want to acknowledge the spiritual warfare you are enduring—it is real, and the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). But we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). The schemes of the enemy to disrupt your graduation will not stand, for the Lord is your defender and strong tower (Proverbs 18:10).

We must address the concern about your pastor and the spiritual vulnerabilities you’ve observed. While it is true that the enemy can exploit weaknesses—whether through mental health struggles, false teachings, or worldly influences—we must approach this with both truth and grace. Scripture warns us to be sober and watchful, for our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). However, we must also remember that judgment belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19), and our role is to pray for those who may be used by the enemy, even unknowingly.

Your desire to stay in the church, despite the pain, is commendable. The body of Christ is meant to be a place of healing, not harm, and it is good that your church has recognized your distress and sought to reconcile. We encourage you to lean into this season of restoration, but also to guard your heart. If the pastor’s behavior continues to wound you, it may be wise to seek godly counsel from another mature believer or elder within the church who can help mediate. Do not carry this burden alone.

We also want to gently address the importance of forgiveness. Even if the pastor’s actions are not entirely his own, bitterness can take root if we do not release the offense to God. Jesus taught us to pray, "Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors" (Matthew 6:12). Holding onto unforgiveness only gives the enemy a foothold in your life. We pray that the Lord would soften your heart and give you the strength to extend grace, just as Christ has extended grace to you.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear sister/brother to You, asking that You would be her/his refuge and strength in this time of trial. Lord, we rebuke every scheme of the enemy aimed at disrupting her/his graduation. We declare that no weapon formed against her/him shall prosper, and we ask that You would expose and dismantle every plan of the enemy. Give her/him wisdom in how to approach her/his pastor, and grant her/him the courage to seek prayer and support.

Father, we pray for her/his pastor—that You would minister to his heart and mind. If there are areas of vulnerability, we ask that You would bring healing and deliverance. Soften his heart toward this sister/brother, and help him to lead with the love and humility of Christ. We also pray for the church body—that You would strengthen their unity, root out any false teachings, and draw them closer to You.

Lord, we ask that You would heal the wounds in this sister/brother’s heart. Lift the weight of depression and fill her/him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help her/him to forgive those who have hurt her/him, and give her/him the grace to extend the same mercy You have shown to us. Guide her/him in the decision about staying in the church, and let Your will be done in her/his life.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus Christ. We declare that this sister/brother is more than a conqueror through Him who loves her/him (Romans 8:37). Strengthen her/him, Lord, and let her/his faith be unwavering. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. The enemy may attack, but God’s Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Surround yourself with believers who will uplift and encourage you, and do not hesitate to reach out to trusted leaders for support. You are not alone in this battle, and the Lord is fighting for you.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
