Pain for no reason

We have heard your request about this unexplained pain on your left side and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord, asking for His healing touch and His peace while you wait for answers.

We know how unsettling it can be to hurt and not understand why, but nothing in your body is hidden from God. He formed you and He knows every part of you. Psalm 139:13-14 says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and Psalm 103:2-3 reminds us to praise Yahweh who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. He is still Yahweh who heals you as He declared in Exodus 15:26, and He promises in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh.

We also want to encourage you with practical wisdom. God has given us bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we are called to be good stewards of them. Unexplained or ongoing pain is not something to ignore. We urge you to seek medical care promptly, to let a doctor examine you and help discern the cause. We will pray that God gives wisdom and discernment to those who care for you and that He guides them to the right answers. James 5:14-15 encourages us to pray for the sick and to call on the Lord in faith, trusting that the prayer of faith will heal the sick and the Lord will raise them up.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share why that matters so deeply to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through His name that we can be saved. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 teaches there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Our prayers are heard because Jesus shed His blood for us, died and rose again so that our sins could be forgiven and we could come boldly before the throne of grace. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, as Romans 10:9 teaches, and you will be saved. It is through that relationship with Jesus that we find not only healing for the body but eternal hope for the soul.

We also want to speak peace over your anxiety while you wait. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We now pray together for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You see this pain on the left side that has no clear cause and You know exactly where it comes from even when we do not. We ask for Your healing hand to touch this body, to ease the pain, to reveal the source and to restore health according to Your will. Lord, calm any fear and fill this heart with Your peace that passes all understanding. Give wisdom to doctors and clarity in any tests or exams, and guide every step toward healing. Above all, draw this dear one closer to You through Jesus, that they may know Your love, Your forgiveness and Your presence as their comfort and strength. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our healer and our hope. Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord daily, to keep praying in the name of Jesus, and to get medical attention without delay. We are continuing to pray with you for relief, for answers and for complete restoration.

We hear how unsettling this is to have pain on your left side and not know where it is coming from or why it is there. Not having answers can make the discomfort feel even heavier, and we want you to know we are holding you in prayer.

Since the source of the pain is unclear, we encourage you to have it evaluated soon by a medical professional, like your primary care doctor or an urgent care clinic, alongside prayer and not in place of it. You don't need to figure this out alone, and a clinician can listen, examine you, and help determine what care you may need. It can help to bring notes about when the pain started, how often it comes, what it feels like, and anything that makes it better or worse.

We know waiting for answers is hard. Try to rest as you are able and let someone close to you know what you are experiencing so you are not carrying this worry by yourself. We are asking God to give you wisdom for next steps and peace while you seek care.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now in Jesus' name. You see this pain and the uncertainty it brings. We ask for Your comfort and presence, for guidance for the doctors and nurses who will help, and for clarity about what is causing this pain. Give strength for each day and peace in the waiting. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord, You know what they cannot see. Heal the source of this pain and bring complete restoration to their body. Grant them wisdom, relief, and Your peace.

- *"Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the One I praise."* (Jeremiah 17:14)
- *"For I am the Lord who heals you."* (Exodus 15:26)
- *"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."* (1 Peter 5:7)

**Amen.**

Your request concerning this pain on the left side, whose cause you cannot trace, has been heard and is carried before the throne of grace. Though the source is hidden from you, it is not hidden from the Lord who formed your frame and who numbers all your sorrows.

We are bidden to speak comfort to the afflicted, for the Lord has said, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He does not leave His own to suffer alone, but bids His people to comfort one another and sends help from above. In your affliction you may take up the word of the psalmist and say, This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy word hath quickened me. It is not the letter alone but the Spirit working through the Word that quickens and sustains, and that inward quickening becomes our comfort when outward pain remains mysterious.

There is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. The Scripture speaks of the tree of life whose leaves were for the healing of the nations, and we are taught that the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even His leaves, the gentlest touches of His grace, have virtue to change the life blood and to make the nature whole. Whether He sees fit to remove the pain at once or to sanctify it for your good, He is the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing meet in Him.

We pray for you now, that the Lord in His mercy would lay His hand upon you, ease this pain, give wisdom to any physician who may examine you, and reveal what needs to be revealed for your health. We ask that He would comfort your heart, establish you in every good word and work, and let His Word quicken you inwardly while you wait upon Him. We encourage you also, as a steward of the body God has given you, to seek timely medical counsel, and to let those who care for you know of this continuing pain, while you cast all your care upon Him who cares for you.

May the God who comforts the desponding and who heals the broken in heart be very near to you, and may you find that His grace is sufficient, His presence abiding, and His healing, in His own way and time, made manifest for His glory and your good.
