Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this honestly and for asking for prayer. I am praying for you, for your health, for your breathing, and for encouragement as you keep trying to care for your body.
I want to encourage you to be freed in prayer from the idea that some things are harder for God than others. Scripture says He is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think. What feels very difficult to us is not more difficult to Him. Whether the need is very small or very large, His ability is the same. Bring this need for strength, for easier breathing, and for wisdom in losing weight to Him with confidence that He hears and is able.
The Bible says God gives weight to the winds and measures the waters, and He hangs great amounts of water in clouds that do not tear under the load. He also hides His throne behind those clouds. He knows how to hold weight and measure what is heavy. He made your body, He sees how it is working, He knows your breathing and your struggle, and He understands the way your body works far better than we do. You can trust Him with both the physical concern and the discouragement that comes when effort does not seem to bring results.
The apostle Paul wrote that the things that once seemed like gain to him he came to count as loss because of the far greater value of knowing Jesus Christ as Lord. He had lived a very disciplined life and had much to be proud of, but after meeting Jesus he saw that knowing Him was the true treasure, and he was even willing to suffer the loss of reputation and position for that. He wrote that many years later and still felt the same way. That helps put our own struggles in perspective. Caring for our bodies matters because they are gifts from God, and we want to steward them well, but our deepest gain is not a number on a scale. It is belonging to Jesus and being found in Him. When that is settled, we can pursue health not to earn worth, but out of love for the Lord who loves us.
As long as God gives us breath, we can use that breath to trust Him and to speak His praise. Job said while he had breath he would not turn to empty or deceitful words, even in suffering he did not understand. Your breathing itself, even when it feels labored, is a reminder that He is the one who sustains you moment by moment. Scripture also says that present troubles, which feel heavy now, are light compared to the eternal weight of glory God is working for those who are in Christ. He sees your life not only in terms of today and tomorrow, but in light of eternity. That does not make the present struggle small, but it gives hope that He is working for your good in ways that last.
So I am praying that God will help you breathe more easily and give you wisdom for daily habits, for food and activity and rest, and for good medical counsel as you need it. I am praying He will lift discouragement and give you steady peace and strength to keep going without shame. And most of all I am praying you will know more deeply the excellency of knowing Jesus, that His presence will be your greatest comfort and strength each day.
May the Lord give you peace in your heart, strength in your body, and breath that reminds you of His nearness and care.
