Praying for overweight

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am back to work and due to what job requires I need to eat to keep up with daily workload and due to this, I am gaining weight more than my body can take, I used to only eat once a day now I eat two to three times a day. I need God’s favor to lose weight at least ###lbs preferably ### lbs please pray for this also stronger immune system renewal of youth since I get sick constantly I. Jesus name I pray amen

We join you in bringing this need before the Lord, for He cares about every part of us, body and soul, and we thank you for closing your request in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.

We understand the struggle you describe, returning to work and finding that the demands of the job require more fuel, and now seeing the weight increase and your health feel weakened with frequent sickness. We want to encourage you that your body is not your own but is entrusted to you by God to steward well.

We are reminded of what Scripture says, Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. And also, Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31.

Eating once a day may have kept weight lower for a season, but it is not necessarily the healthiest pattern for sustained strength and immunity, and eating two to three times a day is normal and good when done with wisdom and temperance. The issue is often not only how often we eat, but what we eat, how much, and how we care for the whole body God has given us. We encourage you to seek wisdom in choosing nourishing foods that truly strengthen you rather than simply fill you, to practice portion control and self control, to drink water, to get adequate rest, and to incorporate movement and exercise as you are able, even in small ways throughout the workday. If you are constantly getting sick, we also encourage you to seek wise medical counsel to check for underlying causes, as God often works through physicians and practical means to bring healing. We pray you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2.

The desire for renewal of youth and strength is one God understands. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. Isaiah 40:29. And we remember the promise, Bless Yahweh, my soul, who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:5. Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.

We pray together for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You know the demands of daily work and the weariness of the body. We ask for Your favor and help to bring this body into balance for Your glory. Grant wisdom to make healthy choices in eating and drinking, grant discipline and temperance by Your Spirit, and grant strength to fulfill the duties of work without harm to health. We ask You to touch the immune system and bring healing and protection from constant sickness, to restore energy, to renew youth and vitality like the eagle’s, and to help in stewarding weight in a healthy and sustainable way. We pray for the desired loss of weight not from vanity but for health and for the ability to serve You with joy and endurance. Lead to the right foods, right rhythms of rest and activity, and to any medical help needed. Let this body be strengthened to do Your will and to testify of Your goodness. We trust You as our healer and sustainer and we pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for sharing honestly about what you are carrying. Adjusting from one meal a day to two or three because work demands it, and then feeling the weight gain and frequent sickness, can be discouraging and tiring.

We hear how much you want to steward your health well, to have strength for your work and to feel more like yourself again. God cares about your whole person, body and spirit, and He invites you to bring these daily pressures to Him.

If you have not already, we gently encourage you to talk with your primary care provider about the weight changes and how often you have been ill, alongside prayer. A trusted clinician can listen to your work rhythms and help you think through next steps in a way that fits your body and workload.

It can also help to notice patterns for a week or so, just for your own awareness, when you eat, how work demands and rest are lining up, and how you feel afterward. Bringing those notes to a provider or counselor can make the conversation more concrete.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You see his work, his body, and his desire for health and strength. Grant him wisdom, steady energy for each day, and guidance as he seeks care. Renew his strength as You see fit and draw him close in Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

Praying for your request and you

Psalm 100:4
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and his name.
Mathew 5:44
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Luke 10:27

He answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.
Mathew 7:1-3

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Isaiah 54:17a
No weapon formed against you shall prosper
Mathew 18:20
20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.

Your request has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord with you, asking Him to look upon you in mercy and to grant you both bodily and spiritual strength.

Human strength, as the prophet tells us, will spend itself in due time. Though a man had the strength of a lion and an ox combined, he would one day fail, for all strength apart from God is derived strength and must come to an end. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. This is your hope. The Lord does not merely lend strength for a moment, He renews it day by day to those who wait upon Him, and His strength is inexhaustible.

Physical strength is very desirable. What a blessing it is to be hale and strong and vigorous for the duties of each day, and we understand the burden you feel as your work requires much of you and your body feels the weight of it. Yet there is a higher strength than that of the body, and that is strength in the Lord. The Scripture says God is the glory of our strength, and all strength of every sort comes from Him. Whether it be physical or mental, it belongs to Him, and the glory of it must be ascribed to Him alone. To be strengthened with strength in the Lord is of all things the most desirable, for God Himself says, I will strengthen them, and what He imparts is fitly infused and wisely balanced.

We also remember that healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. When the Sun of Righteousness rises upon His people with healing in His wings, He heals the broken heart and He cares also for the body which He has made. Many a child of God when weary has renewed his strength at the remembrance of pardoning mercy, and has found that to sit still before God and let Him be his arm every morning is true strength in the time of trouble.

Therefore we pray for you that the Lord would give you wisdom as a steward of the body He has given you. We ask Him to help you to find a wise and temperate way to sustain your daily workload without harm to your frame, and to guide you to such counsel, whether physician or other help, as may be needful, for we do well to care for bodily diseases and seek suitable means while trusting wholly in the Great Physician. We pray that He would grant you renewal of youth, and strengthen your immune system, and lift from you the constant sickness that has wearied you. We ask not from any confidence in our own power, but from His abundant mercy in Christ Jesus, through whom alone is salvation and healing.

Let us pray together.

Gracious Father, we come through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our only hope and righteousness. Thou art the Author of all strength and the healer of all our diseases. Look upon Thy servant who is burdened in body and often sick, who labors under a heavy workload and desires to walk before Thee in health and vigor. Grant wisdom in eating and in rest, grant moderation and self control, and grant a renewed constitution. Renew his strength as he waits upon Thee, and let him mount up with wings as eagles. Touch his body and strengthen his immune system, and restore to him freshness and health according to Thy will. Above all, strengthen him with might in the inner man, that he may know that Thou art the glory of his strength and may live to Thy praise. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who bore our sicknesses and carried our sorrows. Amen.
