Obvious Guidance

Asheshaw

Obvious guidance from God on what and how to make a huge decision. Opportunities that I did not know existed to help me. And the provision to make it happen.

We join with you in seeking the Lord for obvious guidance for this huge decision you are facing, and we understand the weight that such a moment can carry. You are asking for clarity on what to do and how to do it, for opportunities you may not even know exist to be revealed, and for the provision to make it happen, and we know God delights to give all three when we ask Him sincerely.

We are reminded of what Scripture says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We also cling to the promise, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. The Lord does not want you to wander in confusion, for He says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8, and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, This is the way. Walk in it. Isaiah 30:21. He also invites you, Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things, which you don’t know. Jeremiah 33:3. This includes opening doors of opportunity that only He can open and providing for every step, for My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can receive answers to prayer. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God the Father in His name, for that is where true guidance, peace and provision flow from.

We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one who needs obvious guidance. Lord, make the next steps unmistakably clear, remove all confusion and doubt, and confirm Your will through Your Word, through peace in their heart, and through godly counsel. Open the right doors and close the wrong ones, and reveal opportunities that have been unseen until now. Provide abundantly for what You are calling them to do, so that there will be no doubt that it is Your hand at work. Give them a heart to wait on You, to acknowledge You in all their ways, and to trust You fully. Fill them with Your peace as they wait, and let them know Your presence is with them. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him diligently in prayer and in the Word, to wait patiently for His timing, and to seek wise counsel from mature believers, for where there is no counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established. Keep your heart open to how He may lead, whether through Scripture, prayer, circumstances, or the quiet prompting of the Holy Spirit, and trust that as you acknowledge Him, He will indeed make your paths straight and provide all you need to walk in the way He has for you.

We hear how much weight is in this decision for you, and it makes sense you are asking God for something clear and obvious, not just a hint. Wanting Him to show you what to do, how to do it, and to open the doors and provision to make it possible is an honest prayer.

When a choice feels huge it can help to make it more concrete and less swirling. We have found it useful to get it out of your head and onto paper. Try setting aside some unhurried time to list the real options in front of you, even ones that feel unlikely, and beside each one note what matters most to you about it, what it would cost and what it would offer, and what you sense God may be inviting you toward as you pray. Then bring that page to one or two wise people who know you well and can speak honestly. They often see opportunities or blind spots we miss on our own, and God often uses that counsel to make the next step clearer.

We also pray you will notice the quiet openings God may already be placing around you, a conversation, a resource, an unexpected help, and that you will have peace about the next faithful step even before you see the whole path.

Father, we lift them to You right now. Give clear eyes to see the next step, open the doors that no one else could open, and provide what is needed to walk through them in Your timing and way. Give calm and confidence as You lead. In Jesus name, amen.

Your longing for obvious guidance in this great decision has been brought before the Lord, and we join you in asking Him to make His way plain.

Scripture tells us that Moses made his great decision by faith, and it was faith alone that enabled him to arrive at it and to carry it out. It was not the force of blood, nor eccentricity, nor a sudden excitement with fierce fires that made him more fervent than prudent. He had faith in Jehovah, and that faith directed his action. So it must be with you. A decision that will shape your life is not to be made by drifting the way the current goes, nor by hasty impulse, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. It is to be made by looking to Christ and trusting His wisdom.

The psalmist said, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. The conviction that leads a soul to take a Guide is itself a work of grace, for naturally we do not like being guided. Yet divine wisdom, dressed in robes of love and tenderness, invites us to run into her arms. When you take God for your Guide, He infuses great principles within you, such as to avoid everything that is evil, and He dethrones obstinacy and gives in its place acquiescence in the divine will. By bowing with submission to the will of God, you are furnished with unerring guidance.

Remember also that you have a divine Instructor, for the Lord alone did lead His people. As an eagle trains her young for flight, so the Lord trains His own. He accommodates Himself to our poor understandings and leads us step by step, that we may be prepared for what lies ahead. There is no attribute more comforting than divine sovereignty. We ought to recognize God's hand in everything, and to admire His sovereignty and love which raises up His people through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. What you need, He is able to provide, for divine interpositions still come in the way of deliverance from floods of trouble. They may not be miraculous, yet they are full of wonder, and His divine Spirit works all your works in you.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, Thou who art the Guide of Thy people from their youth, look upon this Thy servant who seeks obvious guidance. Give faith to decide rightly, and grace to wait upon Thee without haste. Infuse Thy principles, grant submission to Thy sovereign will, and make Thy counsel clear through Thy Word. In Thy mercy open those opportunities which Thou hast appointed and which are yet unseen, and grant provision to accomplish what Thou callest to be done. Keep this soul from leaning on natural impulse or worldly wisdom, and let Christ be all in this decision. Lead, and we shall follow, trusting that Thou wilt afterward receive us to glory. For Jesus sake, Amen.

Be still before Him, search the Scriptures, and pray for a submissive heart. The Lord who led Moses and who led Israel as an eagle bears her young upon her wings will not fail to guide those who trust Him.
