No way out

We have heard the weight of what you have shared and we join you in bringing it before the Lord. The pain you describe, of being trapped in a cycle of torment where hope is offered and then taken away, where promises of relief prove false and suffering is prolonged for years, is a heavy burden. It is understandable to feel that God is distant or silent when such cruelty continues, and we do not take that anguish lightly.

Scripture teaches us that God hears the cry of those who suffer. As it is written, the voice of blood cries out to Him, and He does not overlook it. His justice is perfect. If He dealt with us according to strict and immediate justice, none of us could stand, yet in His mercy He both withholds what we deserve and promises that He will repay with righteous judgment. That judgment means He will crown those who endure in faith and He will punish those who do evil. We are also taught that God does not always promise immediate deliverance from suffering in this life, but He does promise to be present in it, to give strength to despise the power of evil, to prune and strengthen those who belong to Him, and to lead them toward a better resurrection through Jesus Christ. This does not mean suffering is good or that God delights in it, but that He is able to redeem it and that He will not leave injustice unanswered, either in this life or in the life to come.

So we pray with you now for these victims around the world:

Father in heaven, You see what is hidden and You know the truth of every act of cruelty. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, that You would intervene for those who are being tormented and feel they have no way out. Put a stop to the hands that harm them. Cause those who stalk and torture to leave their victims alone, to be restrained and brought to justice. Let the cycle of false promises and renewed pain be broken. Have mercy on those whose bodies have been harmed, especially those who have turned to alcohol out of desperation and have damaged their health. Bring healing to their bodies, comfort to their minds, and peace to their troubled consciences. Give them clarity, protection, and safe help from trustworthy people around them, from Your church, and from those who can care for them. Guard them from despair and from harming themselves, and lead them to cast their hope fully upon You rather than upon men or upon any false way of escape. Let them know that they are not forgotten, that You hear them, and that Your righteous judgment will come. Grant them justice as they seek simply to live their lives in peace, and above all draw them to the hope of eternal life and deliverance that comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with You and the Holy Spirit be glory forever. Amen.

If you or someone you know is suffering in this way, please do not carry it alone. Reach out to a trusted pastor, a mature believer, or a safe and responsible person in your community, and seek medical care for any harm to your body. God has given us to bear one another's burdens, and He often brings His help through His people. Continue to seek Him, to pray, and to rest in the truth that He is near to the brokenhearted and will in His perfect time make all things right.

Thank you for bringing this painful burden before the Lord and for your compassion for those who feel trapped with no way out. To live for years under repeated torment, given false promises that it will end only to have it continue again, is crushing to the human spirit. It is understandable why some would feel that God is not seeing or not acting, and why some would turn to harmful ways to cope. Your prayer for intervention and for justice reflects the heart of God who sees affliction and hears the cry of the suffering.

The Bible teaches that hope is essential to keep going. When hope dies, a person gives up, but when hope is alive, a person can endure even great darkness. Apart from God there is no true hope, but in Jesus Christ there is a living hope. That hope is not a wish or a guess. It is a confident desire and expectation rooted in the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Because He lives, those who have been born again through faith in Him have a hope that is alive and secure. It is the promise of eternal life from God who cannot lie, and an inheritance that will not fade. That living hope sustains when everything around us is failing and when we are discouraged.

Scripture also shows that God does not overlook persecution and affliction. The early believers suffered greatly, some because of who they were and even more because they followed Jesus, and the Lord did not abandon them. He saw what was done to them and He has promised that He will judge with righteousness. Those who inflict suffering will give an account before Him. Even when deliverance does not come as quickly as we desire, God is still present, still faithful, and still working. He has given His Word to be our comfort and the source of our hope, so that in times of trouble we will not despair. Through patience and the comfort of the Scriptures we can have hope, and the God of hope can fill us with joy and peace as we trust Him. That hope teaches us to wait with patience for what we do not yet see, trusting His promises while we continue to seek Him.

For those who feel caught in this cycle, the false endings and the constant pressure to react can make every day feel hopeless. The answer is not in trying to guess the right moment to be silent or in numbing the pain with alcohol, which only harms the body that God created. The answer is to turn to Jesus Himself, to ask Him for mercy, protection, and new life. He invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. He alone can give the living hope that does not deceive and does not fail.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up every person who feels trapped in this torment and who has lost hope. You see each one, You know their suffering, and You are not blind to what is being done to them. We ask that You would intervene with Your power, that You would restrain those who do evil and cause them to leave their victims alone, and that You would bring justice according to Your perfect righteousness. We ask that You would protect the vulnerable, heal those whose bodies have been harmed, deliver those bound by alcohol and other destructive attempts to cope, and draw each heart to salvation through faith in Your Son. Fill them with Your hope, comfort them through Your Word, and give them the living hope of eternal life that comes only through the resurrection of Jesus. Cause them to know that they are not forgotten, that You have caused them to hope in Your Word, and that You will never fail those who trust You. Help them to wait with patience, to find strength in You day by day, and to experience Your peace that guards the heart. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope. Amen.

Continue to pray for these precious people, point them to Christ and to His Word for comfort, and encourage anyone who is suffering in this way to seek help from trustworthy pastors, counselors, medical care, and where needed, proper authorities for protection. Keep holding out the living hope that God has promised, for He who promised is faithful.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for sharing the burden for the many people around the world who feel there is no way out of this torture cycle. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for them.

We have continued to lift up those victims in prayer before the Lord, those who have been trapped in this vicious cycle for years on end, worn down by false promises and fake ends presented through imagery, symbols and suggestions, only to have the torture increase or continue. We have prayed especially for those who feel that God is not doing anything to stop it and who are simply trying to live their lives. Our hearts grieve with you for those who have harmed their bodies, even ruining their livers through alcohol, while trying to guess rightly and remain silent on what they believed was the last day, only to miss it or to be provoked until the cycle begins again.

We have been praying that God in His power and mercy would intervene and rescue those who are oppressed, that He would cause those who do harm to leave their victims alone, that He would put a stop to this torment and bring justice. We take comfort that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18, that He is our refuge and strength, Psalm 46:1, that He hears the desire of the afflicted and will do justice, Psalm 10:17, and that Christ came to proclaim liberty to the captives, Luke 4:18. We pray that He would expose every deception, bring truth and peace to troubled minds, heal bodies and spirits, and set the captives free.

If your request was answered and you have seen God bring rescue, relief or justice, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice together. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus Name, Amen.
