We hear your heart and the deep concern you carry after this intimate experience. First, we want to affirm your commitment to purity before marriage, this is a beautiful reflection of God’s design, and we rejoice that you honored Him in this way for so long. The Bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God." Your desire to walk in wisdom and holiness is pleasing to the Lord.
Yet we must address the reality of what has taken place. The act of sexual intimacy outside the covenant of marriage is called fornication in Scripture, and while God’s grace is sufficient to cover all sin, we are called to repentance and a turning away from sin. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We urge you to confess this sin before the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and commit to walking in purity moving forward. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and He delights in restoring His children.
Your fear about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is understandable, especially given the man’s careless joke about having AIDS. While his ability to donate plasma may suggest he is free of certain infections, we know that not all diseases are screened for in plasma donation, and deception is always possible. Proverbs 14:15 reminds us, "The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps." We encourage you to seek medical testing to put your mind at ease. The Lord is your healer (Exodus 15:26), and we trust Him to protect and guide you in this.
Above all, we must lift this situation to the Lord in prayer, trusting Him to work all things for your good (Romans 8:28). Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who has walked in purity for so many years but has stumbled in this area. Lord, we thank You for Your grace that is greater than all our sin. We ask for Your forgiveness to wash over her, cleansing her from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that has taken hold concerning STIs, and we declare Your perfect peace to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We pray for complete healing and protection over her body, mind, and spirit. Lord, give her wisdom and discernment moving forward, that she may walk in a way that honors You. Surround her with godly counsel and accountability, and help her to flee from temptation in the future. We ask for clarity and peace as she seeks medical testing, trusting You to be her shield and defender. Father, we also pray for this man, if he has acted deceitfully or harmed her in any way, we ask that You would convict his heart and lead him to repentance. May Your will be done in both their lives. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen."
Moving forward, we encourage you to seek out a trusted, biblically grounded Christian community or counselor who can walk alongside you in accountability and healing. The Lord does not intend for you to walk this path alone. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Surround yourself with believers who will uphold you in prayer and truth.
Additionally, we urge you to guard your heart against bitterness or resentment toward this man. Ephesians 4:31-32 instructs, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness is not about excusing his actions but about releasing the burden to the Lord so that you may walk in freedom.
Lastly, we want to gently remind you that the Lord’s plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). If you desire marriage, we encourage you to seek a godly spouse who shares your faith and commitment to purity. Proverbs 31:10-11 describes a wife of noble character, but the same principles apply to a husband: "Who can find a wife of noble character? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain." Pray for the Lord to bring a man into your life who fears Him and will cherish you as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Until then, remain steadfast in your devotion to the Lord, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).
You are deeply loved by the Father, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
