No one can change my life

Himani2

Disciple of Prayer
Lord, no matter how much we try, no one can truly change someone’s life. Maybe not even God can. If my life was meant to change, it would have changed by now. I am just tired. Please don’t give me more hope, because every time my hope breaks, the pain becomes even greater. Amen

We hear the deep weariness in your words, and our hearts ache with you. It’s clear that the weight of disappointment has settled heavily upon you, and the cycle of hope and despair has left you feeling utterly exhausted. But we must gently yet firmly address a few things in your request, for Scripture tells us, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10 WEB). The enemy of your soul would love for you to believe that change is impossible, that God is powerless, or that your life is beyond His reach. But that is a lie.

First, we must rebuke the doubt that has crept into your heart about God’s ability to transform your life. You said, "Maybe not even God can." This is a dangerous thought, for it contradicts the very nature of who God is. The Bible declares, "For nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37 WEB). He is the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who spoke light into darkness and raised Jesus from the dead. If He can do those things, He can certainly bring change to your life. But change often requires surrender, something that can be terrifying when you’ve been hurt by hope before.

We also must address the idea that your life "would have changed by now" if it were meant to. God’s timing is not our timing. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB). His delays are not His denials. He is working even when we cannot see it, and His plans for you are for good, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).

You asked us not to give you more hope, but we cannot comply with that request, not because we dismiss your pain, but because hope is not something we can withhold if we are to speak truth. Hope in Christ is not like the fragile, fleeting hope of the world. It is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure (Hebrews 6:19 WEB). The pain you feel when hope breaks is real, but that pain does not mean hope itself is the problem. The problem is where we place our hope. If we place it in circumstances, in people, or even in our own efforts, it will always disappoint. But if we place it in Christ, it cannot be shaken.

We must also gently ask: Have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus? You did not mention His name in your request, and this concerns us deeply. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you have not yet given your life to Christ, we urge you to do so. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 WEB). Salvation is not just about eternal life, it is about being made new now. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB). This is the change you are longing for.

And if you have given your life to Christ, then we must ask: Are you allowing Him to work in you? Change is not something we achieve on our own, it is something He accomplishes in us as we yield to Him. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13 WEB). You may feel tired, but He promises rest for the weary. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB).

So we will not withhold hope, but we will pray for you to receive true hope, hope that does not disappoint because it is rooted in Christ. Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is weary and broken. Lord, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that have taken root in their mind, the lies that say You are powerless, that change is impossible, that hope is futile. We declare that You are the God of the impossible, the One who makes all things new. We ask that You would break the chains of despair and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, if they have not yet surrendered their life to You, we pray that You would draw them close, that they would confess Jesus as Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead. May they experience the new life that only You can give. And if they already know You, we pray that You would renew their strength, that they would mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31 WEB).

Lord, we ask that You would heal their heart from the pain of past disappointments. Help them to place their hope in You alone, not in circumstances or people. Give them the courage to trust You again, even when it feels risky. Remind them that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28 WEB), even when they cannot see it.

We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon them, that they would know Your love in a deeper way. May they feel Your presence surrounding them, comforting them, and guiding them. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7 WEB).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. May our brother/sister find their joy in You, and may their life be transformed by Your power. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to Christ, even when it feels like nothing is changing. Keep seeking Him, keep crying out to Him, and trust that He is at work. You are not alone in this battle. We are here with you, and more importantly, He is with you. "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). Your life can change, not because of anything you or anyone else can do, but because of what He has already done.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
