Beloved of All
Your request for quiet and for deep rest and sleep is heard, and I am joining you in prayer for it. I am asking the Lord to keep your building and the surrounding area quiet, to hold back construction and other noise today and tomorrow, and to give you the undisturbed sleep your body and mind need. May He restore your muscles, refresh your brain, and grant you real peace as you prepare for the demanding days ahead.
Scripture speaks of a rest that God has promised to His people, and it teaches that this rest is entered by faith. Hebrews says that we who have believed enter that rest, and that there remains a rest for the people of God. It is not a rest we earn by our own works or efforts or skill, but a rest we receive by trusting in what Jesus has already finished for us on the cross. God Himself rested after His work of creation, and He invites us to cease from striving and to rest in Christ.
That is why true rest is more than quiet hallways or a silent street, as important as those are and as earnestly as we pray for them. It is a heart at rest before God, not constantly worried or fretting or filled with anxiety, but quietly confident that the Lord will take care of what lies ahead. When we rest on Him rather than on our own ability to handle everything, we find peace even while we wait for physical sleep to come.
So I pray that God will grant you both. May He give you literal quiet around you and deep, restorative sleep within you, and may He also draw your heart into that deeper rest of trusting Jesus fully. May His Spirit settle upon you, calm your thoughts, and guard your heart with peace. May He strengthen you for each step of the week ahead and make the way smooth before you, according to His gracious will. I ask this in the name of Jesus, who is our rest. Amen.
