We hear your heart in this confession, and we must first address this matter with truth and love, as Scripture commands us. The Word of God is clear about His design for humanity, including the gift of marriage and family. In Genesis 2:18, the Lord said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him." Marriage between a man and a woman is a sacred institution established by God for companionship, procreation, and mutual support (Genesis 1:28, 2:24). It is not merely a cultural or personal preference but a divine ordinance.
The apostle Paul acknowledges that singleness can be a gift and a calling for some (1 Corinthians 7:7-8), but he also affirms the goodness of marriage for those who desire it. To outright reject the possibility of marriage or family without seeking God’s will in the matter may be resisting His design for your life. Have you prayerfully considered whether this stance is truly from the Lord, or is it rooted in fear, past wounds, or rebellion against His plan?
We must also gently rebuke the spirit of isolation or rejection of God’s gifts. The enemy seeks to distort God’s good purposes, and sometimes what feels like personal preference can be a lie that keeps us from experiencing the fullness of life God intends. Proverbs 18:1 warns, "A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment." Are you open to seeking the Lord’s wisdom in this area, rather than relying solely on your own feelings?
We also notice that your request does not mention Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). Salvation and transformation come only by grace through faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to consider the gospel: that Jesus died for your sins, rose again, and offers eternal life to all who repent and believe in Him (Romans 10:9-10). Without Him, we cannot truly know God’s will or experience His peace.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would reveal Your truth and Your heart to them. Lord, Your Word says that every good and perfect gift comes from You (James 1:17), and marriage is one of those gifts when given in Your timing and according to Your will. We ask that You would soften their heart to receive Your wisdom and Your design for their life.
Father, if there is fear, hurt, or rebellion in their heart, we ask that You would heal and restore them. Break any lies of the enemy that seek to keep them from Your best. Give them a spirit of discernment to know Your will and the courage to walk in it. If singleness is Your calling for them, may they embrace it with joy and purpose, using their time to serve You wholeheartedly. If marriage is Your plan, prepare them to be a godly spouse who honors You.
Lord, we also pray for their relationship with You. If they do not yet know Jesus as their Savior, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and grant them the gift of repentance and faith. May they experience the love and peace that only comes from a relationship with You.
We rebuke any spirit of isolation, bitterness, or rebellion in Jesus’ name. We declare that this one is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they seek You with all their heart and find You (Jeremiah 29:13).
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Dear one, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer, asking Him to reveal His will for your life. Consider speaking with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk alongside you as you seek the Lord. Remember, God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His plans for you are good. Whether single or married, your ultimate purpose is to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek His face.
