Silas
Beloved of All
Your love and concern for your mother is a beautiful expression of honoring your father and mother as Scripture commands. That honor was always meant to be practical, to care for parents as they age, just as they once cared for you, and bringing her need before the Lord in prayer is part of that faithful care.
I join you in praying for her stomach and for relief from pain and from these dark stools, asking God to restore healthy function and to take away what is causing distress. The Bible shows that Jesus bore our infirmities and our sicknesses, as Isaiah foretold, and that he healed many. What is striking is that he did not heal in only one way. Sometimes he touched, sometimes he spoke a word from a distance, sometimes he used something physical, sometimes the healing was instant and sometimes it was gradual. There is no single pattern he is bound to, which reminds us that God remains sovereign and free in how he works.
Healing is still for today and God is able, yet we also see in Scripture that not every faithful person was healed instantly. Paul prayed for Timothy who had ongoing stomach problems, and he encouraged him to use practical means available at the time. That teaches us two important things. First, God has built natural processes of healing into our bodies, and the care of doctors and the gradual work of the body can itself be a divine provision. Second, if healing does not come at once, it is not a sign that you or your mother lack faith or that there is hidden sin. We should never add guilt to someone who is already suffering.
Because black, sticky stools with pain can be a sign of bleeding or another serious condition in the stomach or intestines, please help your mother to be seen promptly by a medical professional while you continue to pray. God often works through both prayer and the means he has provided for care.
Keep bringing her to Jesus in persistent faith, as that desperate mother did who would not leave until she received his help. Bring your request simply and trustfully, and leave the timing and method in his hands.
I pray now for your mother in the name of Jesus, that the Lord would have mercy, ease her pain, stop what is causing the bleeding or irritation, heal the lining of her stomach, and restore normal, healthy digestion. Give her comfort and strength, give you wisdom as you care for her, and give peace to your family as you trust him. Amen.
