Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden and for giving thanks even in the midst of such deep sorrow. Your prayer for mercy and grace and for a wonder working salvation is exactly the heart of God.
We grieve with those who are suffering terrible violence and persecution for the name of Jesus. History shows again and again that persecution does not destroy the true church. It refines it. It separates what is real from what is not, and it causes genuine faith to stand up and grow stronger. Love among believers often abounds most when pressure is greatest, and God has often used even cruel opposition to spread the gospel further as believers are scattered and carry the word with them.
What you are asking for is the greatest miracle of all, which is salvation. The Scripture says the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people. Salvation is not something we can buy or earn or deserve. It is a gift of grace through Jesus Christ, who is Himself our salvation. His name means the Lord is salvation, and He came to save His people from their sins. That salvation is great because it is open to anyone who will come. Whosoever believes in Him will not be cast out, and whosoever will may come and drink of the water of life freely.
God has chosen us for salvation from the beginning, and He now holds out that offer openly. The word says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. That is why we urge everyone not to put it off, because our eternal destiny rests on receiving what Christ has done.
We join you in praying that the Lord will pour out His mercy and grace upon those who are being hunted and harmed, that He will protect and strengthen the true believers so their faith will not fail, that their love for one another will continue to abound, and that even through suffering the message of Jesus will go forth with power. We pray that many who do not yet know Him, both among the persecuted and among those doing the persecuting, will hear the gospel and receive this great salvation. We pray that God will show His mighty arm to save, to deliver, and to judge righteously in His perfect time, and that countless souls will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
May the Lord comfort you as you intercede, and may He answer with the wonder of lives transformed by His grace through faith in Jesus.
