We hear the cry of your heart for your niece, and we join with you in lifting her before the throne of grace. The words of Psalm 70:5 resonate deeply, for the Lord indeed is the Helper and Savior of the poor and needy, He does not delay in showing mercy to those who call upon Him in truth. We stand with you in faith, believing that God sees her every need and will move mightily on her behalf.
First, we must address the foundation of our hope: salvation through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If your niece does not yet know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her to repentance and faith. For it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18) and the fullness of His healing, provision, and peace. If she has not surrendered her life to Him, we encourage her to confess her sins, believe in her heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and call upon His name for salvation (Romans 10:9-10). This is the first and greatest need of every soul.
Now, we lift up her physical and material needs to the Lord, who is Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider (Genesis 22:14). Father, we ask You to open doors of provision for your daughter. You know her need for a couch and a bed, provide these things in a way that only You can, so that Your glory may be revealed. Stir the hearts of Your people to be instruments of Your generosity, and let her see Your hand moving on her behalf. We declare that lack has no place in her life, for You have promised to supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
We also pray for her physical healing, Lord. Your Word declares that by Jesus’ stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We rebuke every spirit of infirmity and pain that seeks to oppress her body. We ask for a compassionate and skilled doctor who will listen to her, advocate for her, and provide the specialized care she needs. Give her wisdom to seek out godly medical professionals and the strength to persevere in her treatment. We speak restoration over her body and mind, trusting that You are the God who heals (Exodus 15:26).
For her PTSD and emotional healing, we cry out to You, the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Father, bring healing to the wounds of her heart. Replace fear with Your perfect love (1 John 4:18), and let her find refuge in Your presence. Surround her with believers who will speak life, pray over her, and walk with her through this season. We declare that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). O how tenderly does the cry of the needy ascend to the ear of mercy! Your prayer, woven from the groaning of David in Psalm 70, is itself a leaf from the tree of life, a sweet bud of faith breathed out before the throne. The Lord who hears the young ravens and marks the sparrow’s fall is not deaf to the sigh of His poor child. Your niece’s want of a couch and bed, her bodily weakness and the wounds of her spirit, all lie open before Him who sees in secret. He is no distant spectator, but the Helper, the Saviour, the great Physician of souls and bodies alike. Has He not said, “The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations”? Even the least things about Christ are full of healing virtue. The hem of His garment brims with power; the print of His nail-pierced hand conveys balm. So you do well to bring her case directly to the Lord, as a sick man spreads all his symptoms before his doctor. Tell Jesus everything, the frantic search for a bed, the weariness of pain, the inward horrors of a bruised mind and the longing for a compassionate physician. He loves such honest unfolding of need, and He is not slow to answer.
Let your faith latch onto this: healing and forgiveness are twins born from the same wounded side. Before the palsy left that poor man’s limbs, Christ first spoke pardon to his soul. The soul’s cure is the root; the body’s relief, the sweet-blossoming flower. Seek for your niece, then, not only the easing of her outward lot, but above all the inward sweetening of her heart by the blood of the covenant. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings for every part of our ruin, body, mind, and spirit. He can lead her to a lowly couch, or send a kind helper from an unexpected quarter; He can bind up the memories that tear at her peace; He can turn the stony face of a doctor to tenderness, or Himself supply what medicine cannot. The poor and needy are His peculiar domain; He hath ever a basket full of mercies for the destitute, and He delights to display His glory by uplifting the downcast. Wait for Him, then, with holy expectation. Though He seem to delay, delay is not denial. The very hour when teaching filled the house was the hour when the healing power was present, and the palsied man found wholeness. So too, when you are most conscious of weakness, He is often nearest with His restoring touch.
Bid your niece fix her eyes on Jesus, the Conduit Head of all healing streams. He takes the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Let her not look to the minister, the doctor, or any human aid as her ultimate hope, but cast herself wholly upon Him who does the work of God alone. Real healing, lasting peace, are of His hand, and it glorifies Him to make the poor comely and the needy rich in faith. Contented still, O Lord, be to us the Helper and Saviour, then couch and bed, body and mind, past and present, shall all be ordered by Thy perfect will, to the praise of the glory of Thy grace.
