We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, grieving the profound loss of life, especially the innocent unborn, and the deep wounds of abandonment, betrayal, and broken families. The pain you carry is real, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting these burdens to the One who sees, knows, and heals.

The shedding of innocent blood, whether through abortion or miscarriage, is a grave tragedy, for Scripture declares that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). The Lord hears the cries of the unborn and the brokenhearted, and He alone is their righteous Judge. We trust that He, in His infinite mercy, receives the souls of the little ones into His eternal care, for Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14). Their lives, though brief, were not without purpose, and their memory is precious to Him.

For those who have been abandoned, by parents, spouses, children, or friends, the pain of rejection can feel unbearable. Yet the Lord promises, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me" (Psalm 27:10). He is the Father to the fatherless, the Defender of the widow, and the Shelter for the broken (Psalm 68:5-6). Even when earthly families fail, He remains faithful. We pray that you would know His nearness, His comfort, and His provision in ways that surpass human understanding.

The spirit of abandonment and betrayal is not from God, for He is love (1 John 4:8), and His plans for you are for good, not harm (Jeremiah 29:11). If you have been wounded by the sin of others, whether through abortion, neglect, or rejection, we pray for healing and restoration. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper you are forgotten or unloved, for Scripture declares, "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!" (Isaiah 49:15).

For those who have participated in abortion, either directly or indirectly, we urge you to seek God’s forgiveness. The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin (1 John 1:7), and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1). Repentance brings healing, and God’s mercy is greater than our failures. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we implore you to do so, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation is found in no one else, and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6).

We also lift up those who feel they have no refuge, no home, no family, no friend to turn to. The Lord is your shelter (Psalm 91:1-2), and He commands His people to care for the vulnerable. We pray that He would provide godly community, safe haven, and practical help for those in need. If you are in a place of desperation, we encourage you to seek out a Bible-believing church or ministry that can offer support.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for the lost, the abandoned, and the wounded. We mourn the lives of the unborn taken too soon, and we trust in Your mercy to receive them into Your presence. For those who grieve, who feel alone, or who have been betrayed, we ask for Your comfort and healing. Lord, You are the Father to the fatherless and the Defender of the weak, be their refuge and strength.

We rebuke the spirit of abandonment, betrayal, and death in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). For those who have sinned through abortion or neglect, we pray for repentance and restoration. Let them experience Your forgiveness and grace, knowing that You are faithful to cleanse and heal.

Provide shelter, family, and hope for those who have none. Raise up godly men and women to stand in the gap for the broken. May Your Church be a light in the darkness, offering love, truth, and practical help. We entrust all these burdens to You, trusting in Your goodness and sovereignty.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Reading your words, we feel the weight you're carrying, the cry for unborn lives cut short, for mothers and fathers, spouses and children, neighbors and siblings who find themselves utterly alone, without a family or a safe place to go. The sheer scope of what you’re naming is a lot for any heart to hold, and we don’t want to rush past that. So often, when we gather up so many broken pieces and bring them to God, our own hidden wounds start to surface in the middle of the prayer. If that’s true for you right now, if somewhere in this long list you are the one who feels abandoned, without shelter or mercy, we want you to know you’re seen. You’re not just a beggar at the gate; you’re someone God has invited near.

In our own lives, we’ve learned that grief like this can get buried deep, especially when a loss feels unspeakable or when no one around us seems to acknowledge it. But buried grief doesn’t disappear; it waits until we’re safe enough to let it breathe. One small, steady step is to give yourself permission to pour out the specific ache you feel most personally right now. Maybe it’s the unborn babies whose days were never known. Maybe it’s the friend or sister who has no one. Write that one pain on a piece of paper, place it before the Lord, and simply sit with Him for a few silent minutes. You don’t have to wrestle every burden at once; trust that He can hold what you cannot.

We’re praying with you now.

Lord Jesus, receive every precious unborn child into the safety of Your kingdom, where no one is ever despised or forgotten. Shelter the abandoned; be husband to the spouse who has no partner, father to the child with no earthly home, and friend to the lonely. For anyone right now trapped in a cycle of rejection and self-blame, bring a clear path toward healing and a compassionate ear. And to this burdened soul who cries out to You, grant a deep sense that they are not alone, that You Himself are their refuge, their sure place. Let Your mercy meet them today, and give them just enough light for the next step. Amen.

The wickedness that tramples upon the unborn and casts off the living is a foul stench rising to heaven, yet even for such crimson guilt the fountain filled with blood has power to wash utterly away. You speak of infants torn from the womb, generations cut off, souls abandoned to utter desolation. The tender mercy of our God stoops to this very pit. When all natural props fall, father, mother, husband, wife, friend, the Lord receives the outcast. Your Psalm and your Isaiah have already spoken it: though the mother forget, yet will I not forget thee. Those little ones, despised by parents who should have cherished them, are not lost to the eye that sees every sparrow’s fall. I have often said that God’s mercy pleads with the sinner: “God will be glorified in your salvation, for He delighteth in mercy.” And for the innocents, we may lay them in the arms of Him who, when He dwelt among us, took up babes and blessed them. Only the God of all comfort can tell how He makes all things new, but we rest in His character. He is “the God of my mercy” and He goes before us.

Yet while we weep with those who weep, we must not let grief blind us to the one Refuge. The cry of the abandoned heart and the groaning of the murdered innocents both call us to Christ. He is the City of Refuge to which every manslayer may flee and live. You pray for those who have no house, no family, no shelter; I bid you tell them that the gates of Mercy are not shut when the gates of society are barred. Jesus walked into the leper colony and touched the untouchable; He came to seek and to save the lost, even those whose very names are blotted from the family record. His errand is mercy to the social outcast, the despairing, the sin-sick soul that cannot even squeeze out a tear. He is the Great Interpreter between God and man, who can not only tell of mercy but make the soul taste it, feel it, rejoice in it. Flee to Him! You speak of a “beggar for shelter or madhouse mercy”, the Son of God has enough for such extremes. Let none say they are too hardened or too unworthy; while we are yet speaking, He hears. The mercy that came to Hagar by the desert well, to the demoniac among the tombs, comes for you and for all who will cry out to Him.

But take heed: there is a false hope in mercy that leaves the heart unchanged. If mercy comes to you, it will make you a new creation, with new loves and new hates. The first thing God’s mercy does is turn your face in the opposite direction. You cannot cling to the sin that shed innocent blood or hardened the heart to abandon the weak and yet claim the promise. Yet listen to mercy’s pleading, even through this sorrow: “I have long withstood His grace, long provoked Him to His face; would not hearken to His calls, grieved Him by a thousand falls. Depths of mercy! Can there be mercy still reserved for me?” Yes, depths of mercy indeed. God looked upon the race and found a loophole through the sacrifice of His Son; because of that atonement, He can be just and yet the justifier of the ungodly. The very fact that you are moved to pray for these wretched souls and helpless babes is a whisper that mercy is drawing nigh. He is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy; His rod of mercy is ever outstretched while the sword of justice sleeps in its scabbard. O that you and every broken heart would now run to the Redeemer, who ever liveth to intercede. Trust the merits of His Son, and you will find Him to be a Refuge indeed, for the abandoned, for the murderer, for all who will humble themselves and look to Jesus. May the Lord, the God of the infants, receive them to His arms, and may the Spirit of mercy win many prodigals home ere the day of doom arrives.
