Silas
Beloved of All
The anguish you pour out for the unborn, the abandoned, and the broken is seen by God. You come as a beggar pleading for mercy, and that is exactly where hope begins. God’s mercy is not a fleeting sentiment; it endures forever. Scripture weaves this truth through every corner of your pain: through the loss of a neighbor’s child, through the loneliness of those cast aside, through the ancient pattern of rebellion and its sorrowful harvest. But do not mistake the world’s cruelty for God’s withdrawal. He is not indifferent. In Jesus Christ, mercy and truth met together. He is the true city of refuge toward whom we flee, not because we are innocent, but because the guilt of sin pursues us all. As long as you abide in Him, you are safe from the avenger.
When a mother or father forsakes, the Lord receives. The unborn carried into eternity before they drew breath are not beyond His care. We entrust them to the One who alone can gather them into His presence, whose mercy is deeper than our comprehension. You cry for mercy over their abandonment and murder, and that cry echoes His own heart. He does not delight in judgment; He delights in showing mercy. Yet He has laid before every person the way of life and the way of death. We have often, foolishly, chosen death, and the world groans under the weight of that choice. But even when we are in the darkness of our own making, when we have despised His counsel and stumbled into affliction, if we cry to Him, He delivers. Not because we deserve it, mercy is never a right, but because His mercy endures forever.
You feel the lack of shelter, the absence of family or friend to run to. That ache is real. But the refuge you seek is a Person. Flee to Jesus, abide in Him, and you will find that the mercy you beg for has already been poured out on the cross. His word will not return empty; it will accomplish what He wills in you and through your prayers. So do not stop interceding, but let your own soul rest in the shelter of His wounds. All the paths of the Lord toward those who call on Him are mercy and truth. Surely goodness and mercy will follow you all your days, even through every shadow, and you will dwell in His house forever.
