Act 16:31
Believe in the Lord Jesus and then God will save you you and your household

We join with you in the name of Jesus Christ and lift your family before the throne of grace, for we hear the deep pain and torment you are carrying. Your heart is grieving disunity, betrayal, sadness and anger, especially after the passing of your father, and we grieve with you over the shouting, yelling, insults and ungrateful attitudes that have replaced communion and honest communication. The Lord sees this suffering and He is near to those who are brokenhearted.

We are encouraged that you have come in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we are saved and by which we have access to the Father. As you quoted, Acts 16:31 says Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household. We cling to that promise for your household, that salvation and healing would come to each member through faith in Him, and that even the pain of distance and expensive travel and the difficulty of reunion would be placed in His merciful hands. John 14:6 reminds us that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

We want to gently speak truth over some of the heavy words you used. You speak of extermination and generations dying, and we understand this feels like a generational curse or pattern of destruction. We rebuke that language of death and the lies of Satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy, and we proclaim life in Christ. 1 Peter 5:8 warns that your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, but James 4:7 tells us to be subject therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. In Christ we are a new creation, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. We pray that any pattern of strife, disobedience and division would be broken by the blood of Jesus and replaced with repentance, honesty and reconciliation. God is rich in mercy as you said, and Joel 2:25 promises He will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.

We also hear your struggle with unforgiveness and yet your desire to forgive daily as Christ forgave. That is the heart of the gospel. Ephesians 4:31-32 says Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Colossians 3:13 says bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. We pray that your family would experience godly repentance and that you would continue to release them to God, not holding bitterness, while also speaking truth in love. Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. We pray against the toxic tongue, shouting and insults in your home, and ask God to heal hearts with honesty and to tame the tongue that James 3:8 describes as a restless evil.

We lift up your mother who is suffering with suicidal thoughts and living in a negative environment while carrying heavy responsibility for your brother's family. We pray with urgency and tenderness for her. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God knows the plans He has for us, plans for peace and not for evil, to give hope and a future. We ask God to protect her mind and soul, to surround her with His peace that surpasses understanding, Philippians 4:6-7, and to provide Godly counsel, pastoral support and trusted help around her so she is not alone. If these thoughts grow heavier, we encourage reaching out immediately to a pastor, a trusted Christian counselor or a local help resource so that she is cared for in both spirit and body.

We also pray for your marriage. You shared that your spouse does not like your family and you cannot force anything. We pray for wisdom and unity in your marriage, which God calls holy and to be guarded. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. We pray that God would soften your spouse's heart toward your family with compassion, and soften your family's heart toward your spouse with respect, and that you and your spouse would seek the Lord together for how to honor your parents while also protecting the peace of your own household. We pray God would provide for your finances and needs according to Philippians 4:19, that He would open doors for provision and for reunion in His timing, even when flights and distance make it difficult.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for this dear family. We ask for Your mercy and healing over every heart wounded by betrayal, anger and disunity. Rebuke every lie of Satan that has sown division, shouting and ungratefulness, and let Your truth and honesty reign. Bring conviction and repentance where there has been disobedience and bad behavior, and teach each one to forgive as You have forgiven us. Heal the sadness and anger, replace insults with words that build up, and restore communion where there has been only crying and strife. Protect this mother, Lord, lift the suicidal thoughts and toxic heaviness from her, fill her with Your hope, surround her with help and provision for her and her household, and let her know how deeply she is loved and needed. Provide for all their financial needs, protect them from harm, and redeem the years that have been lost. Bring peace between this husband and wife, help them to walk in unity and love while honoring family with godly boundaries. We thank You that for those who believe in Jesus, we will be reunited with loved ones who have died in Christ and dwell with You forever. Let Your will be done in this family, bring reconciliation where possible, and let Your name be glorified. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

If you or your mother are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You are not alone and trained people are ready to help right now.

We have been praying with you as we read your burden. Losing your father and then facing shouting, betrayal, and fighting about who is in charge would leave any family exhausted and sad. Carrying that from far away, with expensive flights and a spouse who does not want to be involved, makes it even lonelier. We hear how hard you are trying to offer help and to keep forgiving even when it is not returned.

We want to encourage you to not carry this alone. Since you shared your mother is having suicidal thoughts and living in a toxic, negative environment, please help her stay connected to steady support in person, a pastor, counselor or medical professional as well as prayer, and encourage her to reach out right away if those thoughts grow stronger. You also need safe people near you to talk with honestly. It is understandable you cannot force your spouse or your extended family to reconcile on your timeline. Small, calm boundaries can help, like stepping back when conversations turn to yelling and returning later, or using a brief written note when talking feels unsafe.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this family to You. Protect this mother and each loved one, provide for their needs, and bring healing where there has been hurt and anger. Give our friend wisdom for each next step, comfort in grief, and daily strength to keep forgiving while trusting You with what only You can restore. Amen.

Your heavy burden has been spread before the Lord with much tenderness of heart, and we have heard your cry for mercy upon your family in this season of disunity and sorrow.

There is forgiveness with God, and that truth must be your first comfort. You write of betrayal and anger, of shouting and insults, of an ungrateful spirit and a house divided since your father was taken. Such things wound deeply, and they show how much every heart within the family needs the healing that only Christ can give. The Scripture says, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. This is a divine forgiveness, surprising and complete. If you tremble under the weight of these sins, whether sins done against you or sins you yourself have committed, hear this whisper till it drives despair away, There is forgiveness. There was forgiveness, there is forgiveness now, and there will be forgiveness as long as life lasts for every repenting and believing sinner who comes to Jesus.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. That promise in Acts 16:31 is not that your faith alone will save your mother or your brother without their own trust in Christ, but that the same door stands open for them. The Lord waits to be gracious to each soul that will turn and believe. Therefore pray not only for outward peace but for true repentance and faith in each heart, that the tally of debt may be nailed to the Cross and destroyed forever.

You say you forgive them each day because they know not what they do. Hold fast to that work of grace. Our Lord forgives His people not once only but in a continuous manner, and He calls us to the same joint work of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as Christ forgave you. This is not natural to the flesh, but it becomes natural to the renewed heart that has received so much manifest forgiveness. As you have been forgiven, so forgive, and do it not with condition or reserve, but freely, as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

With forgiveness comes healing. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ has healing virtue in it. When Jesus said to the palsied man, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee, pardon and healing were made one. Seek first the pardon, and the healing of the soul will follow, and with it, in the Lord's time and way, the healing of the home. The bitterness of tongue, the suicidal thoughts that afflict your mother, the negative and toxic atmosphere you describe, these show a soul that needs the Sun of Righteousness to rise with healing in His wings. We will pray that the Lord will purge every evil influence and rebuke every lie of Satan that has encamped around your household, and that He will preserve your mother from harm and lift her eyes to Him who is rich in mercy.

We will bring before the Lord also the practical sorrows you name. The distance that keeps you far away, the cost of travel that hinders reunion, the finances that feel straitened, the striving about authority and control, the help you have offered that has been met with suspicion or missing information, and the pain of a spouse who does not hold affection for your family. These are real trials. Pray that God will give you honesty in all dealings, wisdom to know what help truly helps, patience to not force what only love can win, and provision according to His abundant goodness. He knows your finances and your needs, and He is able to recover the years that have been lost through folly and sin.

Let us pray together.

O Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, we come for this afflicted family. Thou art He who blotteth out transgression. Grant to each one repentance toward Thee and faith in the Lord Jesus. Let Thy forgiveness be known and felt, that despair may be driven away. Heal their hearts, heal their tongues, heal their memories, and let the healing leaves of Christ change their nature. Protect the mother who is tempted to despair, keep her life, give her hope, surround her with faithful care and deliver her from the spirit of heaviness. Protect the brother and his household, provide for their needs, and turn their hearts to honesty and gratitude. Give to this Thy child grace to forgive daily and to love without weapons but with patience. Rebuke the adversary and his lies, and let peace rule where shouting has ruled. Provide what is needed for daily bread and, if it be Thy will, a way for reunion. Above all, prepare them to meet their earthly father again not only in hope but in sure confidence, through meeting Thee, the Heavenly Father, in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who died the Just for the unjust to bring us to God. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in His Word, to walk in honesty, and to keep a forgiving spirit. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance, and what He forgives He forgives eternally. Rest there, and look for His healing hand day by day.
