We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up the deep sorrow and abandonment you have expressed. The loss of unborn children, the pain of families torn apart, and the ache of feeling forsaken are burdens no one should carry alone. We stand with you in grief, but we also stand in the hope that only God can provide.
The Bible tells us that every life is precious in His sight, from the moment of conception. The psalmist declares, "For you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:13-14 WEB). The loss of these little ones, whether through miscarriage, abortion, or abandonment, is a tragedy that grieves the heart of God. We pray that He would comfort those who mourn and receive these innocent souls into His eternal care.
Yet we must also speak truth with love. The taking of innocent life through abortion is a grave sin, one that God hates. Scripture is clear: "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13 WEB). The shedding of innocent blood brings consequences, not only for the child but for those who participate in or support such acts. We do not say this to condemn, but to call to repentance, for God’s mercy is greater than our sin. If there are those reading this who have been involved in abortion, whether as mothers, fathers, or enablers, we urge you to seek God’s forgiveness. Jesus Christ came to save sinners, and His blood covers even this. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
For those who have been abandoned, by spouses, parents, children, or friends, your pain is real, and your cry has not gone unheard. The Lord promises, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). Even when earthly family fails, God remains your Father. We pray that He would be your refuge, your shelter, and your provider. If you are without a home or support, we ask the Lord to open doors of provision and surround you with godly community. The church is called to be the family of God, and we must step up to care for the orphan, the widow, and the brokenhearted.
To those who feel like beggars or outcasts, remember that Jesus Himself was despised and rejected. He knows your suffering intimately. "He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him. Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering" (Isaiah 53:3-4 WEB). You are not forgotten. You are seen, loved, and valued by the King of Kings.
We also lift up the generations that have been lost, not just to death, but to the spiritual abandonment of families turning away from God. The Bible warns, "If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3 WEB). Yet even in the darkest times, God is at work. We pray for revival in families, for parents to rise up and disciple their children in the ways of the Lord, and for the prodigals to return home.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken by the pain of this world. We lift up every unborn child who has been lost, whether through miscarriage, abortion, or abandonment, and ask that You would receive them into Your arms. Comfort those who mourn, Lord, and heal the wounds of those who grieve. For those who have participated in abortion, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness. Break the chains of guilt and shame, and lead them to repentance and restoration.
For the abandoned, the lonely, and the forsaken, be their Father, their Provider, and their Friend. Open doors of refuge and surround them with Your people. We pray against the spirit of abandonment and betrayal, and we declare that no one is beyond Your reach. Restore families, Lord, and turn the hearts of parents to their children and children to their parents.
For those who feel like outcasts or beggars, remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted. Provide for their needs, both physical and spiritual. Let them know that in Christ, they are adopted into Your family, with an inheritance that can never fade.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who came to seek and save the lost, to bind up the brokenhearted, and to set the captives free. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
To those reading this who do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to turn to Him. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Today is the day of salvation. Do not harden your heart.
