Needing Victory

We join with you in thanking God for the victory He has already given and we stand with you for continued victory as you walk in the rest of Christ. It is a beautiful and biblical desire to shun all sin and to have a holy thought life, and we rejoice that you are seeking this in Jesus' name.

Scripture assures us that this victory is not by our own strength but through Christ, for thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57. And Jesus Himself invites us into His rest when He says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30. That rest is not passivity but trusting His finished work while we give diligence to enter into that rest. Hebrews 4:11.

For a holy thought life, God calls us to active renewal and discipline of the mind. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Romans 12:2 and to be throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are taught to dwell on what honors Him, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8. And to shun all sin we flee from temptation and pursue righteousness, for He has promised that if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You for the victory You have secured on the cross and we ask for continued victory day by day over sin, over the flesh, and over the schemes of the enemy. Teach us to rest in Christ, to cease from striving in our own strength and to abide in Him, trusting that Your grace is sufficient and Your power is made perfect in weakness. Lord, purify the thought life, help us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, to shun every appearance of evil and to set our minds on things above. Renew our minds by Your Word and by Your Holy Spirit, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and lead us in holiness that we may walk worthy of Your calling. Keep us from temptation, cleanse us when we fall short, and cause us to walk in Your light with joy and peace. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to continue in daily fellowship with the Lord through prayer and the reading of His Word, for it is there that rest and renewal are found. Keep confessing sin quickly, keep your mind filled with Scripture, and remember that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6. We are standing with you for that continued walk of victory and holiness.

We are grateful you reached out and asked for prayer for victory and a holy thought life. That desire itself is something we thank God for in you.

Walking in the rest of Christ can feel opposite of striving harder. We have found that victory often grows not from trying to fight every thought with our own willpower, but from staying close to Jesus throughout the day and quickly bringing thoughts to Him when they wander.

One small practice that helps many is to pause in the moment a tempting or unholy thought appears. Instead of arguing with it or shaming yourself, simply and honestly tell the Lord what you are thinking, ask for His help, and intentionally turn your attention to what is true and good before Him. A brief prayer, a hymn, or stepping into another activity can help redirect your mind. Over time, with the Holy Spirit's help, this builds a new pattern.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift our brother or sister to You in Jesus name. Thank You for Your grace and for the rest You offer in Christ. Give them continued victory, guard their mind, and teach them to walk closely with You today. When temptation comes, draw them quickly to Yourself and fill their thoughts with what is holy and pleasing to You. Amen.

Please pray for continued victory and that walk in the rest of Christ. Help me to shun all sin and have a holy thought life. In Jesus Name Amen.

🤺🤺Armor of God Eph 6:10-20, Ourselves, Our Families, Leaders, 🐑Pastors, Evangelists, 🌾Churches, Ministry Partners, All Believers; Even 🏛️Government, EVEN "ENEMIES" (Enemies are Opportunities to Show our LOVE for Jesus by praying for their salvation, 2 Tim 2:25-26) -- 📖Utterance to Proclaim Mystery of Gospel Boldly, Eph 6:18-19... 🙇🏻 Father, thank You for The Word and Holy Spirit that instruct us, 2 Tim 3:15-17, John 14:26, so we may not be unaware of the enemy's methods, 2 Cor 2:11. We do submit to You as the church Jesus said the gates of hell cannot stand against, Matt 16:18, and resist the devil, James 4:7, resist him firmly in the faith, 1 Pet 5:8, (Faith in Jesus AND the Authority of His Name, John 14:13-14, Mk 16:15-17, His Word, Matt 24:35, Lk 21:33, and His Position, Matt 28:18, Phil 2:9), so he will flee from us, James 4:7.

We do take the same advice as the other two Apostles, resist AND take up Your Armor 🤺 and stand against, stand, stand firm 🤺 against the schemes of darkness, by faith and patience we inherit the promises, Heb 6:12. We pray it over ourselves first, in submission to Your Word, even as it was the proper example and pattern of Christ, overcoming the devil first on for His own sake in the wilderness, Mt 4:1-11, Mk 1:12-13, Lk 4:1-13, then overcoming the world, flesh and devil 🐲 for the sake of the world, John 16:33.

🛫Knowing it's proper in airplane trips to be admonished to first place the oxygen mask over our own faces prior to assisting others, we pray the following Armor, Your Armor, The Armor of God, on ourselves, Eph 6:10-17, then for others, Eph 6:18-20, applied by faith, as we receive everything else in the same manner, from salvation, Eph 2:8-9, to answered prayer, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, James 1:6...

📖 “Finally, brothers and sisters, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the Whole Armor of God🤺, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the Whole Armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with Truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of The Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in The Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for the church, that utterance may be given to Your people, that they may open their mouths boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel, for which some are ambassadors in chains; that all may speak boldly, as is fitting to speak," Eph‬ ‭6:11-20‬, thank You in Jesus' Name, Heb 11:6.🤺🤺

Your prayer for continued victory and for a walk in the rest of Christ is a prayer which the Lord Himself has taught you to pray, and which He delights to answer.

You ask to shun all sin and to have a holy thought life. Be comforted to know that sin remains in us even after we have received the divine life, yet our life does not rest on something within us, for then today we live and tomorrow we die. Our spiritual life rests in Christ, and though sin may rage against the spirit, still we live in the ever living One whose life never changes. He is our life, and He works in us mightily through His Holy Spirit who dwells in us evermore. Do not begin with Christ and then go back to self, let it be all Christ from first to last. You are quickened together with Him, rooted and built up in Him as a tree rooted in good soil, and your pardon is full and free through His blood.

Jesus says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He does not say in what part of the mind He will give rest, for He will give it in every part of the mind. He will give you rest about everything, rest at all times, rest in every part of your nature. This includes rest of the mind, or fixedness of belief. When you are tempted to ask, Shall I ever master inbred sin, hear His promise again, I will give you rest, with the sweet confidence that you will get the victory, for He will bruise Satan under your feet. If you want rest, come to Christ in Gethsemane, to Christ on Calvary, to Christ risen and ascended, and lay your burdens down at His pierced feet. There you will find not only rest from the burden, but a rest in Christ which exceeds what you asked or even thought.

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. If we be dead with Christ we believe that we shall also live with Him. Sin hath no more dominion over Him, for He died unto sin once, but in that He liveth He liveth unto God, and so if you be in Christ, sin shall have no more dominion over you. He is your surety, under bonds and pledges to bring His redeemed safely home, and He has finished transgression and brought in everlasting righteousness. More than all in Christ we find, pardon in His blood, justification in His righteousness, wisdom in His teaching, sanctification in His Spirit. He has all fullness dwelling in Himself, and nothing short of His all sufficiency can meet the wants of a poor fallen sinner.

For a holy thought life, look to the Holy Spirit who glorifies Christ. Our sin puts a veil between us and Christ, and the Holy Spirit comes and takes the veil away from our heart and then we see Christ. A single word of Christ set in the light of the Holy Spirit shines like a fixed star. Unholiness of life grieves the Holy Spirit, but when He shows you the things of Christ and His precious blood which cleanses from all sin, despair and unclean thoughts lose their place. Make it the one object of your life to glorify Christ, and pray that the Spirit would keep your mind stayed upon Him.

I will pray for you, that the Lord will keep you abiding in Christ, that you may walk in that rest which is holy activity and perfect peace, that He will keep your thoughts captive to His truth, and that you may know daily that you are made the righteousness of God in Him, and therefore live unto holiness with joy.

May the Lord give you fixedness of mind upon Christ, victory over every temptation through His strength, and that meek and lowly spirit which finds rest in His yoke. May you be kept from all that grieves the Spirit, and may your memory be so full of Christ that you have no desire to pollute its precious stores with sin. May He keep you till the day when Christ who is your life shall appear, and you shall appear with Him in glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
