Continued strength and victory over the lies of the mind.

Disciple of Prayer
Good morning all. Would appreciate continued prayers for victory over these intrusive thoughts and obsessions. Seeing my therapist tomorrow. Please pray in Jesus name she would help and give good counsel even if she’s not a believer. Thanks Church

We stand with you together in this battle for the mind and we thank you for sharing this honest request so we can continue to lift you up before the throne of grace. We praise God that you are seeking victory and that you called upon the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and peace.

We understand how exhausting and distressing intrusive thoughts and obsessions can be. We want to encourage you that experiencing an intrusive thought is not the same as entertaining or desiring it. The enemy is a liar and accuser, but God has given us weapons for this warfare. We are told in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and in Ephesians 6:12 we are reminded that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of wickedness. Jesus came to set the captives free and to give us a sound mind, for 2 Timothy 1:7 says God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

We rejoice that you are getting help and we will pray for your appointment tomorrow. God in His common grace can use all people to bring help, and we ask the Lord to give your therapist wisdom and clarity. James 1:5 promises that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We pray she will have insight, compassion, and give counsel that is helpful and does not lead you away from truth. At the same time we encourage you to test all counsel against the Word of God, for Psalm 119:105 says Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Any advice that contradicts Scripture should be gently set aside, and we encourage you also to stay rooted in godly counsel from believers and from the Scriptures as you continue therapy.

God wants to renew your mind day by day. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, and Philippians 4:8 calls us to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report. When the lies come, we can answer them with truth. Isaiah 26:3 gives us a beautiful promise, You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. And Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Together we pray for you now.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and lift up our dear brother or sister to You. We thank You that You see every thought, every struggle, and every tear, and that You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask You to grant continued strength and decisive victory over the lies of the mind and every intrusive thought and obsession. Help our loved one to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to replace lies with Your eternal truth. Fill their mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Lord, we pray for the therapy appointment tomorrow, that You would guide the therapist’s words and give good, helpful counsel, and that You would give our friend discernment to hold fast to what is good and true. Lead them to dwell on what is true and pure and lovely, and renew their mind daily by Your Word and Your Spirit. Remind them that when anxiety is within them, Your comforts delight their soul as Psalm 94:19 says, and that You are faithful and will not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can bear, but will provide the way of escape as You promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Strengthen their faith, surround them with Your presence, and let them know they are not alone and not condemned, for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We claim victory in Jesus’ name, trusting that He who began a good work will perfect it. Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing these thoughts into the light with trusted believers, to stay in the Word daily, to pray continually even with short prayers throughout the day when the thoughts attack, and to worship as warfare, for God inhabits the praises of His people. Keep pressing on, for the Lord is your strength and He will uphold you. We are continuing to pray for your freedom, peace, and joy in Christ.

We're grateful you reached out again and shared so honestly what you're carrying. Living with intrusive thoughts that loop and accuse can be exhausting, and it makes sense you would feel worn down. Thank you for letting us stand with you and for taking the step to keep getting support.

We're encouraged you have your therapist appointment tomorrow. We will pray that time is helpful and that she listens well and offers clear, wise counsel. Even when a counselor doesn't share our faith, God can still use good listening and practical guidance to help you move forward.

A small thought for tomorrow that many find useful is to bring a brief note with you, maybe a couple of examples of when the thoughts feel strongest, what seems to trigger them, and one or two questions you most want to ask. It can make it easier to be open even when it feels vulnerable, and to remember what you want to follow up on afterward. Continuing with your therapist alongside prayer is a good way to care for both mind and heart, and if these thoughts ever feel overwhelming between visits, please reach out right away to a trusted person or professional for support.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the battle in their mind and You know how much they want peace and clarity. Give them rest tonight, steadiness tomorrow, and help their conversation with their therapist be fruitful. Give wisdom to the therapist and give our friend courage to speak openly. Lead them step by step toward Your peace and truth, and remind them they are not alone. Amen.

We thank you for sharing this burden so openly and for inviting the church to pray with you. We hear your desire for strength and for victory over the lies and intrusive thoughts that press upon the mind, and we bring that desire before the Lord with you.

You are not alone in this multitude of thoughts within. The psalmist knew what it was to have tumultuous thoughts and thoughts of heart searching, and he found that in the multitude of his thoughts within him, the comforts of God delight the soul. Intruding thoughts surround us like a plague of flies, here, there and everywhere, and it is well that God Himself prepares the heart to pray. If He has given you love enough to prepare your heart to cry for deliverance, He has grace enough to give you the blessing. The more difficult work is not to give the blessing, but to prepare the heart to seek it, and He has done that in you.

Take comfort that your thoughts are not hidden from Him, and His thoughts toward you are precious. How great is the sum of them. They are constant, kind, wise, tender and gracious thoughts, thoughts of love from everlasting. Your thoughts and His thoughts are not the same, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than your ways and His thoughts than your thoughts. When your thoughts accuse and confuse, His thoughts speak peace through the blood of Christ. When your thoughts say you are cast off, His thoughts declare that you are still with Him.

And there is victory for you, not in your own strength, but in Christ who has already won it. Jesus wins the victory, but He will not enjoy it alone, He will glorify His people. Because He poured out His soul unto death, Satan's power is broken and the Seed of the woman shall trample on the serpent. When Jesus Christ the Head was victorious over the foe, every member of His body, even the most uncomely, was virtually a conqueror in the conquering Head. It was the mighty power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in Him by which Jesus overcame the world, and that same quiet power dwelling in you will make you win the same victory by faith. You are more than conqueror through Him that loved you, and when He asks the Father, give them power and victory, it must be done.

We pray for you now in Jesus name, the only name by which we are saved and by which we have access to the Father.

Father, we thank You for this dear one who longs for truth in the inward parts. Grant continued strength and victory over every lie and every obsession that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ. Bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Let Your comforts delight this soul in the multitude of thoughts within. Teach this heart to cultivate thankful thoughts and believing thoughts and longing thoughts after Christ, and to have low thoughts of self before You in humility, looking wholly to Jesus. Keep this dear one near to You, for holy thoughts of Your precious thoughts place us near to You.

We also pray for the appointment tomorrow. In Your common grace You can use many means, and we ask that You would grant this therapist wisdom to give counsel that is helpful and not contrary to truth, and that is attentive and careful. Give Your child discernment to weigh all counsel against Your Word, to receive what is good and true and to set aside what is not. Above all human counsel, speak Yourself by Your Spirit through Your Word, for Your thoughts are higher and Your ways are perfect. Lead to further godly counsel that is rooted in Scripture, and surround this dear one with the fellowship and prayer of Your people.

We ask that You would give peace that passes understanding, guarding heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and that day by day You would make the victory of Your Son more manifest in this life. May this trial, as You sanctify it, enrich faith and deepen dependence upon You who does exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.

We leave you in the hands of Him who has loved you with an everlasting love and who will not lose one of His own. Look to Him still, keep bringing your thoughts to Him in prayer, feed upon His Word, and rest in His finished work until the intruding thoughts are stilled by His presence.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We are joining you in prayer for continued strength and for victory over the lies and intrusive thoughts that have been troubling your mind. Thank you for sharing this honestly and for asking the church to pray with you in the name of Jesus.

God knows the battle you are facing. Intrusive thoughts and obsessions can feel overwhelming and loud, but they are not the truth about who you are in Christ and they do not have the final word. Scripture calls us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to be renewed by the truth of His Word. Those wicked and troubling thoughts are to be given over to the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, so that He can shut out what is false and guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. You are not alone in this fight, and the Lord who is faithful will fortify you and give you the victory as you keep looking to Him.

We are also praying for your appointment tomorrow. We ask the Lord to give your therapist clarity, compassion, and wisdom to offer counsel that is truly helpful and not harmful, even though she does not yet know Him as believer. God is able to grant common grace and insight through many means, and we pray He would guide that conversation for your good. At the same time we encourage you to test all counsel by Scripture, to bring what you hear back to the Lord in prayer and to trusted believers who can help you apply God's truth, since ultimate healing and hope come from Christ alone.

Let us pray for you now:

Father, we lift up our brother before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. You see the intrusive thoughts and the weight they bring, and we ask for Your peace that passes all understanding to guard his heart and mind. Expose the lies, strengthen him with Your truth, and teach him to stand firm against the enemy with the armor You provide. Grant him victory day by day, comfort in weakness, and joy in knowing he is Your child. For tomorrow, we ask You to give his therapist wisdom and care, and to cause only what is good and true to take root. Lead him to counsel that honors You and helps him walk in freedom. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, our only hope. Amen.

Please keep letting us know how you are doing. We are here to keep praying and to walk with you.
