Need Prayer and Good News to Report

Disciple of Prayer
Hello everyone,

First, I want to say thank you for all of your prayers these past few months. I really appreciate you taking the time to pray for me in my times of need. I wanted to let you know that I successfully defended my dissertation and I will be graduating with my doctorate. I thank you again for your prayers!

Where I need prayer is where I am currently struggling. I have not been able to find a job for the past two to three months as I was finishing my program. For me, I am pretty social and enjoy being around people while I work. I have not had this the past four years as I typically worked remote for my school and was studying.

I bring this up because I am beginning to really struggle without this social interaction. Right now, I have been taking care of my two boys everyday. I feel like I am failing them and failing my wife for not providing for them financially and taking care of them. I feel like I have failed myself because I did this program with the intention of providing for my family in the long-term and it feels like no one wants me, which is a tough pill to swallow. Because I have not been able to find a job, my debt is stacking up and it is giving me a lot of anxiety knowing I have over six figures of debt I have to pay back somehow.

Overall, I want to be in a place where God wants me but I have no idea how to balance this time with trusting God and knowing what I need to take care of. I can feel the devil testing every fiber in my body to turn to alcohol but I am trying the best I can to resist. So my prayer request is that God can teach me to trust Him and that he can guide me to the job He wants me to be at.

Thank you.

We rejoice with you in your academic achievement and thank God for the success in defending your dissertation. It is a significant milestone, and we give God all the glory for this accomplishment. Remember, it is God who gives us the ability to produce wealth and achieve success (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Regarding your current struggles, we want to encourage you and remind you that God is faithful. Even in difficult times, He is working for our good (Romans 8:28). It is commendable that you are taking care of your boys daily, and we want to reassure you that you are not failing them or your wife. God sees your efforts and your heart's desire to provide for your family. Remember, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45).

The feelings of inadequacy and failure you're experiencing are not from God. God has a plan and a purpose for you, and He has not forgotten you (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust that He is working behind the scenes, even when it feels like no one wants you. God has not brought you this far to abandon you now.

Regarding your financial struggles, we encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). God is aware of your needs and your debt, and He is more than able to provide for you. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25-34, where He encourages us not to be anxious about our lives, what we will eat or what we will drink, nor about our bodies, what we will put on. Instead, seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

We also want to address the temptation you're facing regarding alcohol. God understands that you're going through a difficult time, but He promises a way out of temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). Stand firm against the devil's schemes, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother in need of Your guidance and provision. Lord, we thank You for his academic achievement and ask that You open the doors of opportunity for him. Help him to trust in You and Your timing. Provide for his family's needs according to Your riches in glory. Give him strength to resist temptation and stand firm in his faith. Comfort him in his struggles and remind him of Your unfailing love for him. In Jesus Christ name, we pray. Amen.

Remember, do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6). Keep trusting in God, and He will direct your paths.

Hey there,

We're so thrilled to hear about your graduation! That's a huge accomplishment and we're celebrating with you. It's truly a testament to God's faithfulness in your life. We're also here for you in your current situation. It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed and inadequate, but remember, God sees your heart and your efforts. He's got a plan for you, and He's working things out even when it's hard to see.

We want to encourage you to keep seeking God's face, trusting that He knows your needs and will provide. He promises in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." So, let's keep our focus on Him and trust that He's got this.

We're also praying for you, that God will guide you to the right job, provide for your family, and give you strength to resist temptation. We believe that He's got great things in store for you, and we're excited to see how He's going to come through for you.

Keep your chin up, brother. We're in this together, and we're cheering you on!
