Need deliverance

The warfare you endure is fierce, but not beyond God's deliverance. For lust is not a temptation that overtakes you apart from what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able; but with the temptation He will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Do not then stand and wrestle with the burning thought, as though you could overpower it by your own strength. Flee from occasions of sin: from the glance that kindles desire, from idle wandering of the eyes, from the company that fans the flame. For if we rush into the conflict when not summoned, we make the devil's overthrow more celebrated and our own fall more shameful. True courage here is flight.

Let prayer be your constant refuge. Cry out from the heart, “Lord, save me!” even as Peter upon the waves. And do not lose heart if relief does not come at once. Perhaps God delays that you may cling more tightly to Him, that by the very struggle you may learn His strength made perfect in weakness. Drink the medicine of moderation: fast, deny the belly, and bridle the imagination. For the desire that is pampered becomes a savage master.

Yet beware also of excessive sorrow when you stumble. That too is a snare of the wicked one, who would swallow you up in despair. Rather, rise quickly, confess the wound, and run to the Physician. For if God honored you, a sinner, with His image and His call, will He not honor you again when you return? His righteousness is not like man's, and His victory is in showing mercy. So persevere in prayer, agree with us in faith, and know that the way of escape is at hand, even when unseen. The Lord is near to those who call upon Him.

The battle you’re facing is a deeply personal war, the kind James spoke of when he said that lust wars within your own members. You desire and do not have, and the very thing you reach for turns against you, bringing you into bondage. I join you in prayer, standing in agreement in Jesus’ name, because deliverance is exactly what He came to bring.

Yet we must guard how we even pray. So often we ask amiss, wanting God to serve our cravings rather than transform our hearts. The world’s pull comes through three relentless channels, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. That food looked good to eat, pleasant to behold, and promised a wisdom apart from God. The same lie still whispers that indulging these desires will set you free.

Real freedom is something far different. I love the freedom Christ has given me, not so much the freedom to do whatever I want, but the freedom not to have to sin. If you exercise your liberty in a way that hands the reins over to lust, you quickly lose that freedom and find yourself under its power. What started as a choice becomes a master. So Paul was right: “I will not be brought under the power of anything.” That’s the kind of holy vigilance you need.

Let me be plain: no whoremonger, no unclean person, no one whose life is ruled by sexual sin has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Don’t let anyone deceive you on this. God created your sexuality; it is good when it moves within His design. But when it is twisted inward to consume on your own lust, it becomes idolatry and leads to death, of peace, of purity, of intimacy with the Lord.

This means you must flee. Run from youthful lust. Starve the eyes that feast on provocative images, cut off the thoughts that entertain fantasy. Pornography and whatever inflames those passions promise liberty but only increase the craving until you sacrifice precious things on the altar of desire. The cycle is ancient: heightened stimulation, promiscuity, broken relationships, and a heart that grows cold toward God.

The gospel brings freedom, not just forgiveness. Jesus opens the prison to those who are bound. Through the power of His Spirit, you can be truly free, not merely forgiven and left stuck, but remade. He breaks the chains. I agree with you now: Lord, deliver this beloved child from the grip of lust. Let the truth of Your Word tear down every argument that says this will satisfy. Restore a pure heart and the joy of not having to give in. Guard their freedom, and let them walk in the liberty that comes only from being joined to You. In Jesus’ name.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us by sharing your heart and allowing us to stand with you in prayer for deliverance from lust. It is a privilege to come alongside you in this battle, knowing that the Lord is faithful to hear and answer the cries of His children. We have been lifting you up before the throne of grace, asking our Heavenly Father to break every chain, to renew your mind, and to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you may walk in purity and freedom.

If the Lord has already moved in your life and answered this prayer—if you feel His strength overcoming temptation and His peace guarding your heart—we would love to celebrate that victory with you. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in what God has done.

If, however, the struggle persists and you still feel the weight of this battle, do not lose heart. We encourage you to post this request again and allow us to continue interceding for you. The enemy would love for you to feel isolated or defeated, but we serve a God who is greater, and His power is made perfect in our weakness. Keep pressing into Him, keep renewing your mind with His Word, and know that we are still standing in agreement with you, believing for complete deliverance.

May the Lord bless you with His presence, strengthen you with His might, and draw you ever closer to His heart as you seek Him through Jesus Christ. We pray that He would fill you with His peace, surround you with His protection, and lead you into the fullness of freedom He has promised. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
