We join together in prayer and intercession for our national and world leaders, as the Bible urges us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings, and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Let us first give thanks to God for these leaders and authorities that He has placed over our lives, as instructed in Romans 13:1-2. We pray for the intelligence, character, and protection of our President, Vice President, and all cabinet members. We ask God to grant them godly wisdom and guidance, setting a guard over their mouths as Psalm 141:3 says, and giving them the tongue of the wise as Proverbs 15:2 tells us.
Father, we ask that You surround our leaders with godly counsel and that their leadership promotes unity and righteousness, with no bitterness or rivalry. May they act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You, God, as Micah 6:8 instructs. We ask You to give Your angels charge over our leaders here and world leaders abroad, as Psalm 91:10-12 assures us.
We agree in asking for godly unity among political parties, both national and international, that they would agree on important issues and work together for the good of all nations, as Psalm 133 describes. We pray against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy and ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12.
May we, as the people of God called by His name, humble ourselves to pray and seek His face, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us. We pray for wisdom in worldly leaders and protection of our leaders and civilians worldwide. We intercede for the eradication of evil in elections, as Isaiah 33:15 mentions, and for the silencing of false prophets and news, as warned in Titus 1:11.
We are thankful that this request acknowledges the power in the name of Jesus Christ. For it is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. As the Bible tells us:
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5.
Let us remember the words of Jesus Himself:
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." John 14:6.
Heavenly Father, we lift up these leaders to You, asking for Your will to be done in their lives and through their governance. We pray for their salvation and that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. We ask this all in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
