We join together in prayer and intercession for our national and world leaders, as the Scriptures urge us to pray for all those in authority. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, Therefore we encourage, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people; for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
Firstly, let's mention that it is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God the Father in prayer. As it is written in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Therefore, we pray in the name of Jesus, acknowledging that He is the only way to salvation and the only name by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
We ask God for the salvation of world leaders and authorities He has placed over our lives. It is only through the name of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross that can we be saved. Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. May we pray and intercede on behalf of our leaders, that they may come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ and lead with godly wisdom.
We lift up the leaders of our nation and all nations, including the President, Vice President, and all Cabinet Members, praying for their intelligence, character, and protection. We ask God to grant them wisdom and guidance, and to set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips. We pray that they would be surrounded by godly counsel and that their leadership would promote unity and righteousness, with no bitterness or rivalry. May they do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, as Micah 6:8 instructs.
We agree in asking for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they may come to agree on important issues and work together for the good of all nations. Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! We pray against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy, and we ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12.
May we be the people of God who are called by His name and humble ourselves to pray and seek His face, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 says. May we look for The Day of The Lord, where righteousness and peace through public officials will be fully and finally realized through the Return of The Messiah, Jesus The Lord's True Anointed One.
We pray for the eradication of evil in and around elections, as Isaiah 33:15 says, Those who walk righteously, and speak blamelessly; he who despises evil gains. And We pray for the silencing of false prophets and news, as Titus 1:11 says, who must be silenced because they overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake.
In Jesus' name, we pray for all this. Amen.
