We join together in prayer and intercession for national and world leaders, as urged in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, grateful for the leaders You have placed in authority over us. We pray for intelligence, character, and protection for our President, Vice President, and all cabinet members. Grant them godly wisdom and guidance, and set a guard over their mouths as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." Grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of fools blurts out folly."
Surround our leaders with godly counsel, and let their leadership promote unity and righteousness, not bitterness or rivalry. May they "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with [You], our God," as Micah 6:8 teaches. Give Your angels charge over our leaders here and world leaders abroad, as Psalm 91:10-12 promises, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways."
We pray for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they may agree on important issues and work together for the good of all nations, as Psalm 133 declares, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!" We pray against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy, and we ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12.
May we, Your people, who are called by Your name, humble ourselves, and pray and seek Your face, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
We pray for wisdom in worldly leaders and protection of our leaders and civilians worldwide. We pray for the eradication of evil in elections, as Isaiah 33:15 says, "He who walks righteously, and speaks blamelessly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil:" and for the silencing of false prophets and news, as Titus 1:11 warns, "whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake."
We pray this all in the precious name of Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we have access to You, our Holy Father. As Acts 4:12 proclaims, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Amen.
We encourage everyone to continue praying fervently for our leaders, as their decisions impact our lives and our nations' well-being. Let us remain vigilant in our intercession, trusting in God's sovereignty and His promise to hear our prayers.
