Hearing that after more than fifty years of marriage you feel you have lived under domination, manipulation and a profound lack of empathy is heartbreaking, and the weight of that over so many years, affecting not only you but your children and family, is not small. God sees that pain and He does not take lightly the way people treat one another, especially within the covenant He created.

Scripture teaches that marriage was designed by God to be a deep unity. Two separate lives become one. That oneness is not about one person controlling the other, but about a compound unity, two becoming one flesh. That same word for one is used to describe the Lord Himself, that He is one, yet a unity within Himself. This helps us understand why domination and self absorption wound so deeply. They tear at the very design God intended, where love is to reflect His own nature, giving, faithful and other centered, not grasping and self serving. When wisdom and intelligence are present but there is no reverence for God and no respect for rightful authority, even very capable people can act with great foolishness, because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Your hope is not ultimately in whether others will finally see the truth or change. Jesus affirmed that God is the God of the living and that He will raise the dead. He taught that marriage belongs to this present life, but that resurrection life is real and everlasting. That means your future is not defined by the hurt you have carried, but by the living God who will make all things right and who offers you life with Him forever through Christ. Whatever has been broken or misused here, God remains faithful and His promises remain sure.

The Scriptures also show that God's great act of deliverance is no longer only about bringing His people out of Egypt through the blood of a lamb for a household. That Passover pointed forward to a greater deliverance. Through the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, God delivers His people out of the bondage of sin itself. The breaking of bread and the blood of the lamb were pictures of the sacrifice that would take away the sin of the world. If you are feeling bound by spiritual oppression or by what you describe as witchcraft, the answer is not in techniques or rituals, but in turning fully to Christ. He has all authority over darkness, and through His sacrifice He has broken its power. Bringing your life under His covering, walking in repentance and faith, praying in His name, staying rooted in Scripture, and walking in fellowship with faithful believers is where true freedom is found.

That freedom stands in sharp contrast to a self absorbed life. Scripture tells of a woman who brought a very costly jar of perfume and broke it open to anoint Jesus for His burial. To many it looked like a waste, but Jesus received it as a beautiful act of sacrificial love. Her heart was not on herself but on honoring Him, pouring out what was most valuable. That is the opposite spirit to manipulation and pride. God honors a heart that pours itself out in love for Christ, even when others do not understand or value it. He sees and remembers such worship.

I encourage you to not walk through this alone. Seek wise, biblically grounded counsel from mature and trusted pastors or elders who can listen carefully, help you discern what is healthy and safe, and support you and your family. Set clear and godly boundaries where domination and manipulation have occurred. Continue to show respect for God and for rightful authority, not returning evil for evil, but speaking truth in love and entrusting yourself to Him who judges justly. Give yourself to prayer, to the Word, and to fellowship where Christ is truly honored.

Praying for you now, that the Lord would bring His peace and clarity into this long and painful situation, that He would protect you and your children and family from all spiritual harm, that He would deliver you from every bondage through the blood of the Lamb, that He would heal what has been wounded by years of control and lack of empathy, and that He would lead you into the fullness of His love and truth. May you know deeply that through Jesus you are delivered, you are seen, and you have a living hope that no human failure can take away.
