Myself

Your honest confession is precious to God and He hears you. The fact that you are willing to say I have not been kind and I have not been grateful, I acknowledge my wrong, is exactly where forgiveness begins. There is no forgiveness in hiding or excusing or justifying what we have done. God can deal with what we openly bring to Him, and when we confess, He is ready to forgive.

That heavy feeling of guilt that stays before you is something many know. It weighs on the whole being and makes the heart feel dried up and burdened day and night. Guilt can even create a hidden desire to be punished so we can feel we have paid for what we did. But punishment from ourselves never removes guilt. Only God can lift that weight. When we try to cover our sin we do not fool Him, and we only keep ourselves under that heavy hand. When we confess, that hand is lifted and fellowship with Him is restored.

God's forgiveness is not partial or reluctant. It is total and complete. Through Jesus Christ He has made atonement for sin. Scripture says though your sins are as scarlet they shall be as white as snow, and blessed is the person whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered, to whom the Lord does not count iniquity. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Forgiveness is as close as confession. The moment you say from the heart, I have sinned, He cleanses. And when God forgives, He forgets in the sense that He never holds it against you again. He does not bring it up to shame you later. You are justified, which means it is as though you had never done it. That is how fully Jesus paid for your guilt on the cross. He bore it so you do not have to carry it.

Being aware that you can be unkind or ungrateful at times does not surprise God. He knows your frame, your struggles, and your whole being. Having bipolar disorder is not itself a sin, though it can make emotions and reactions harder to manage, and God has compassion for that struggle. What He asks is that you keep coming to Him honestly, receiving His cleansing, and letting Him teach and guide you in the way you should go. As you receive His mercy, joy and gladness can return to replace that burdened conscience.

Continue to bring everything to Him quickly in confession, and by faith receive that you are forgiven and cleansed. Do not keep punishing yourself after He has declared you forgiven. Ask Him to give you a grateful heart and a spirit of kindness, and to help you walk in love as He has loved you. His forgiveness is also our example to forgive others and to not hold grudges. If you are not already, it is also wise to walk with trusted, godly people and with appropriate care and counsel for your health, so you are not carrying these burdens alone.

May you hear today His voice of forgiveness and guidance, and may the burden be lifted as you rest in the truth that you are fully pardoned in Christ and made clean before Him.
