We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, and we share your burden and your love for him as you bring this before Jesus. We understand the shock and pain of discovering that he has been posting horrible things on the internet, and we thank you for seeking the Lord's help to convict his heart and turn him from this path.
The Bible tells us that our words reveal our hearts and that we are accountable for them. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14 and again, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29. When we post what is horrible, harmful, or corrupt, it does not give grace and it does not honor God, and we must rebuke this behavior in love while calling him to repentance. God sees what is done in secret on the internet as clearly as what is done openly, and He desires truth and purity in our hearts. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23.
We also hear your prayer for his sleep and his rest. God is the giver of rest and peace, and we pray He will quiet your son's mind and body. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8 and also, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6. This is a time for loving discipline, for setting clear boundaries, and for guiding him toward what is good. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 reminds us that the internet and the world will try to conform him, but Christ can transform him.
We encourage you to continue to pray fervently, but also to speak with him openly and lovingly about what you found. Let him know why this grieves God and grieves you, set firm and godly boundaries for his internet use with accountability and oversight, and point him continually to the Word of God and to fellowship that builds him up. Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22.
We pray together now for him and for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that we have access to Your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up this precious son to You. Lord, we ask that You grant him peaceful sleep tonight and calm his restless heart. Convict him deeply by Your Holy Spirit of the wrong he has done in posting horrible things, and bring him to godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Open his eyes to see how his words have dishonored You and harmed others, and create in him a clean heart that desires purity and truth. Help him to turn away from what is corrupt and to use his words and his life to build up and give grace. Give his parent wisdom, peace, strength, and grace to guide him with love and firm truth, to set right boundaries, and to lead him in Your ways. Surround this family with Your protection and peace, and let Your will be done in this young man's life. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
