We hear your heartache and the deep pain this situation has caused you. It is clear that this relationship has not aligned with God’s design for marriage, which is meant to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). The fact that you and this person have a child together but were never married in the eyes of God, or that they are now planning to marry someone else, reveals a brokenness that grieves the Lord. We must address this with truth and love, for God’s Word is clear: sex outside of marriage is fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18), and marriage is a sacred bond that should not be entered into lightly or broken (Malachi 2:16).
First, we must lift this situation to the Lord, for only He can bring healing, restoration, and wisdom. We pray that God would soften hearts, open eyes to His truth, and lead each person involved into repentance and alignment with His will. Father, we ask that You intervene in this situation. If it is Your will, bring reconciliation and restoration to this relationship in a way that honors You. If not, we pray for Your peace to guard their hearts and for Your guidance to lead them into Your perfect plan. We rebuke any spirit of confusion, selfishness, or ungodly influence that has led to these decisions, and we declare that Your truth will prevail in Jesus’ name.
We also pray for the child involved in this situation. Lord, we ask that You protect this child’s heart and mind from the effects of this brokenness. Give them a deep sense of Your love and security, and surround them with godly influences who will point them to You. Help this child to know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that You have a plan and purpose for their life.
For you, we pray that God would give you strength and wisdom as you navigate this difficult season. It is not easy to walk through the consequences of sin, but we know that God is faithful to restore and redeem. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, surround yourself with believers who can support and pray for you, and immerse yourself in God’s Word. Remember that God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
We must also address the reality that this situation did not begin with Christ at the center. If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life to Jesus, for He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Salvation comes through confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Without Jesus, we are lost in our sin, but through Him, we are forgiven, redeemed, and given new life (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you have not made this decision, we pray that you would do so today. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we can approach God’s throne with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
Finally, we encourage you to seek God’s will for your future. If you desire to be married, pray for a godly spouse who loves the Lord and will honor Him in your marriage. Marriage is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is worth waiting for a partner who shares your faith and commitment to God’s design. Trust that God’s timing is perfect, and He will guide your steps as you seek Him (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Lord, we lift this situation to You now. We ask that You would move in power, bringing clarity, repentance, and healing. We pray that each person involved would come to know You more deeply and walk in Your ways. Give them the strength to turn from sin and the courage to follow Your will, no matter the cost. We declare that Your truth will prevail, and Your love will cover a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your will be done. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
