We lift up your son before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, seeking the Lord’s mercy and intervention in his life. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through which we have access to Your presence. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus, and we ask that Your Holy Spirit would move powerfully in the life of this young man.
Lord, we do not know the specifics of what he is facing, but You do. We ask that You would draw him close to You, breaking any chains of sin, rebellion, or worldly influence that may be holding him captive. If he has strayed from the path of righteousness, we pray that You would convict his heart and lead him back to You. Your Word tells us, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6). We claim this promise over his life, trusting that the seeds of faith planted in him will bear fruit.
Father, if there are areas where he is struggling—whether it be with temptation, peer pressure, doubt, or ungodly relationships—we ask that You would expose the lies of the enemy and replace them with Your truth. Guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). If he is entangled in sin, particularly any sexual immorality, we rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus. The Bible is clear: *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18). We pray that he would honor You with his body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
If he is in a relationship that does not align with Your Word—whether it be an unequally yoked partnership, a same-sex relationship, or a courtship that is not pursued with purity and the intention of marriage—we ask that You would intervene. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). We pray that any relationship he is in would either be transformed by Your grace to honor You or dissolved if it leads him away from Your will.
Lord, we also pray for his spiritual growth. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. Open his eyes to see his need for a Savior and soften his heart to receive the gift of salvation. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16). Let him experience the peace and joy that comes from knowing You.
We rebuke any spirit of depression, anxiety, or hopelessness that may be weighing on him. Your Word says, *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly"* (John 10:10). We declare that he is not abandoned or forgotten; You have plans for him, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
Father, we also lift up his parents and family. Give them wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith as they intercede for him. Help them to speak life and truth into his situation, covering him in prayer and love. May they be a shining example of Your grace and a source of godly influence in his life.
We stand in the gap for this young man, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We trust that Your will for his life is perfect and that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen his faith, renew his mind, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
