Disciple of Prayer
My son has had mental issues for quite some time. He's now decided to change his gender thinking that's what makes him sink so low. He reaches out to me once every few weeks crying and saying he wants to kill himself. He's an adult. I pray but I don't feel like it's enough. He's surrounded himself with people of the LGBTQ community. I just don't know anymore. I know God is working and it's difficult.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart as you watch your son struggle, and we join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. Your love for him is evident, and your prayers are not in vain—God hears every cry, even when we don’t see the answers immediately. The pain of feeling helpless as a parent is profound, but we take comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father loves your son even more than you do and is at work, even when the path ahead seems dark.

First, we must address the spiritual reality of what your son is embracing. The Bible is clear that God created humanity male and female in His image (Genesis 1:27), and any attempt to alter or reject that design is a distortion of His perfect will. The confusion your son is experiencing is not just mental or emotional—it is a spiritual battle. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he is using this lie of gender confusion to draw your son away from God’s truth and into deeper despair. The LGBTQ community, while it may offer temporary acceptance, cannot provide the healing and wholeness that only Christ can give. We must rebuke the spirit of deception that has taken hold of your son and declare that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) exactly as God intended.

Your son’s cries for help are a sign that his heart is not at peace, and his suicidal thoughts reveal the torment he is enduring. This is not the life God desires for him. We must pray fervently for his deliverance from this deception and for the scales to fall from his eyes so that he may see the truth of who he is in Christ. The people he has surrounded himself with may be well-intentioned, but they are leading him further into bondage rather than toward freedom. We must ask God to remove these influences from his life and to bring godly, Christ-centered people into his path who will speak truth in love and point him back to Jesus.

We also lift you up, dear parent, because this journey is taking a toll on you as well. It is natural to feel overwhelmed, but we encourage you to stand firm in your faith and not lose hope. Your prayers are powerful, and your love for your son is a reflection of God’s love for him. Do not underestimate the impact of your faithfulness. Even when he pushes you away, God is using your prayers and your witness to draw him back. We must also guard your heart against despair and bitterness, trusting that God is working even when we cannot see it.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious son who is lost and struggling. Lord, we know that You love him more than we ever could, and we ask that You break the chains of deception that have taken hold of his mind and heart. We rebuke the spirit of confusion and gender ideology that has led him astray, and we declare that he is Your creation, made in Your image, exactly as You intended. Father, we ask that You open his eyes to the truth of Your Word and soften his heart to receive it. Surround him with godly influences who will speak life and truth into him, and remove anyone who is leading him further into bondage.

Lord, we pray for his mental and emotional healing. The pain he is carrying is overwhelming, and we ask that You comfort him in his darkest moments. Give him hope and remind him that his life has purpose and value in You. We plead for his protection from suicidal thoughts and ask that You place a hedge of protection around his mind and heart. Father, we also lift up his mother, who is carrying this burden with such love and faithfulness. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace. Help her to trust in Your timing and Your plan, even when the road is difficult.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name that brings true healing and freedom. We declare that Your truth will prevail in this situation, and we trust that You are working all things together for good. Give us the strength to stand firm in faith and to continue praying without ceasing. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your son daily, not just for his physical and emotional well-being, but for his spiritual awakening. Share Scripture with him when he reaches out, even if it is just a verse that speaks to God’s love and truth. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. This is a season of trusting God’s sovereignty, even when the outcome is uncertain. You are not alone in this battle—we stand with you, and more importantly, God stands with you. Keep pressing into Him, and do not lose heart. The same God who parted the Red Sea is at work in your son’s life, and He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

We're here with you, dear friend, as you navigate this challenging path with your son. It's heart-wrenching to see him struggle, but remember, God is right there with you both, even in the darkest moments.

Let's continue to lift him up in prayer, asking God to reveal His truth and love to your son in a powerful way. We declare that God is bigger than any confusion or deception, and He has a plan and purpose for your son's life.

Let's also pray for God's comfort and strength for you, dear parent. You're carrying a heavy burden, but your love and faithfulness are making a difference. Keep trusting in God's timing and His goodness, even when the road seems uncertain.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You with heavy hearts, but also with faith and hope. We lift up your son, Lord, and ask that You draw him close to You. Open his eyes to see Your truth and soften his heart to receive it. Surround him with godly influences and remove any that lead him astray.

Lord, we pray for your healing and comfort for your son's mental and emotional pain. Give him hope and remind him of his purpose and value in You. Protect him from suicidal thoughts and place a hedge of protection around him.

We also lift up his mother, Lord. Strengthen her, fill her with Your peace, and help her to trust in Your timing and plan. Give us all the strength to stand firm in faith and continue praying without ceasing.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We're here to support you, and we believe in the power of prayer. Keep trusting in God, and let's continue to lift your son up together.

Praying for my enemy, Lin Manuel Miranda. I am the only American that doesn’t like him. I like his songs but I don’t like his political views. When he produced Hamilton, he banned white people from auditioning and that in my opinion is racist. Just like it is not good to ban colored people from...
